Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Database Administrator (Cloud DBA) with deep expertise in PostgreSQL, Databricks Lakehouse, and cloud database modernization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, administering, optimizing, and modernizing enterprise database platforms while ensuring high availability, performance, security, and scalability across cloud environments.
The role requires strong experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Databricks Lakehouse, Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory (ADF), real-time data streaming, and DevOps automation. The successful candidate will play a key role in cloud migration, database optimization, and building reliable, cloud-native data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, administer, and optimize enterprise PostgreSQL databases across cloud platforms.
- Lead database modernization initiatives, including migration of on-premises databases to cloud-native PostgreSQL environments.
- Design and manage scalable Databricks Lakehouse architectures using Delta Lake and the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Administer cloud database platforms including:
- Azure Database for PostgreSQL
- AWS RDS PostgreSQL
- Google Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL
- Build and maintain high-performance ETL/ELT workflows using:
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Databricks Workflows
- Apache Airflow
- Design and support real-time data processing solutions using:
- Apache Kafka
- Event-driven architectures
- Streaming data pipelines
- Monitor database performance and optimize:
- Query execution
- Indexing strategies

- Implement high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), backup, and business continuity strategies.
- Develop database automation scripts for provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, and deployments.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Solution Architects, DevOps, and Application teams to support enterprise data platforms.
- Implement database security, encryption, auditing, and compliance best practices.
- Design and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions for database environments.
- Support production environments by troubleshooting performance issues, resolving incidents, and conducting root cause analysis.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines to automate database deployments and configuration management.
- Mentor junior DBAs and establish database administration standards and best practices.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 7–10 years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or Cloud Database Engineer.
- Strong experience administering enterprise PostgreSQL environments.
- Experience supporting cloud-native database platforms and modernization initiatives.
- Experience working with large-scale enterprise data platforms.
