Main Purpose of Job :
To transform wireframes and UX concepts into high-fidelity, developer-ready UI designs for ISS’s complex B2B operational product ecosystem. Reporting to the UI/UX Lead, the UI Designer is responsible for creating polished, interactive artifacts that bridge the gap between UX discovery and front-end engineering. This role ensures our digital workflows are visually consistent, highly usable, and seamlessly handed off for technical execution.
Duties and Responsibilities
High-Fidelity Design & Prototyping
- Transform low-fidelity wireframes and UX concepts into pixel-perfect, high-fidelity user interfaces tailored for complex B2B web applications.
- Build advanced, interactive prototypes (using Figma) to simulate real-world system behavior for final usability testing and business sign-off.
- Apply excellent visual design skills to ensure complex data is displayed with clear hierarchy, readability, and minimal cognitive load.
Design System & Standardization
- Partner directly with the UI/UX Lead to build, expand, and maintain a robust, centralized UI Component Library (Design System) that enforces a unified design language across all internal products.
- Define and document all UI states (hover, active, disabled, error) and responsive behaviors to ensure absolute consistency across the ecosystem.
Developer Handoff & Agile Alignment
- Create meticulous design handoff documentation (redlines, spacing, interaction guidelines) to ensure front-end developers can build the UI without ambiguity or guesswork.
- Work deeply embedded within agile teams alongside Product Owners and developers, actively participating in sprint planning to review the feasibility of UI designs.
- Conduct "Visual QA" during the build phase, reviewing the coded interfaces alongside developers to ensure the final product matches the approved design artifacts.
Success Metrics
- Handoff Efficiency: Zero sprint delays caused by missing UI states, undocumented interactions, or ambiguous design files during developer handoff.
- Design System Adoption: 100% of new UI artifacts utilize the centralized Component Library, resulting in a measurable decrease in the time required to design new features.
- Technical Feasibility: 100% of delivered UI designs are technically viable and accepted by the engineering team without requiring major architectural re-work.
Knowledge :
- Expert proficiency in industry-standard UI design and prototyping tools (strictly Figma, leveraging advanced features like auto-layout, variants, and variables).
- Deep understanding of atomic design principles and the mechanics of building scalable UI component libraries from scratch.
- Strong theoretical grasp of visual design fundamentals: typography, color theory, grid systems, and visual hierarchy specifically applied to data-dense interfaces.
- Solid understanding of digital accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to design inclusive interfaces for diverse operational environments.
- Practical understanding of front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, modern frameworks) to ensure all designed artifacts are highly feasible and optimized for actual development.
Skills :
- Technical Translation for Design: Exceptional capability to translate complex operational logic into simple, intuitive visual components that reduce user friction.
- Structured Output: Ability to logically organize design assets and documentation to support seamless technical execution.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous focus on alignment, spacing, and interaction consistency across hundreds of interconnected screens and components.
- Constructive Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to articulate UI design decisions to stakeholders and negotiate technical trade-offs with front-end developers.
- Rapid Iteration: Ability to quickly adapt high-fidelity designs based on technical constraints or real-time feedback from UX discovery ceremonies.
Experience :
- UI Execution: Proven experience as a UI Designer, Visual Designer, or similar role, backed by a strong portfolio showcasing the final visual execution of complex B2B, enterprise, or data-heavy software.
- Design Systems: Practical experience contributing heavily to, or independently managing, a structured design system used by multiple agile teams.
- Engineering Handoff: Demonstrated experience successfully handing off complex designs to development teams, resulting in high-quality coded implementations.
- Multi-Persona Design: Experience designing adaptable interfaces for multiple distinct user personas, successfully accommodating their varying goals, workflows, and unique operational challenges within the same product ecosystem
