Job Summary

L3 SQL Server DBA – Job Description Position Summary The Level 3 (L3) SQL Server Database Administrator is an expert responsible for the administration, performance, availability, security, automation, and lifecycle management of Microsoft SQL Server environments. The role provides L3 support for complex database issues, leads troubleshooting e..orts, drives database best practices, and works closely with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to ensure optimal database operations. Key Responsibilities Database Administration . Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server environments (2012/2014/2016/2017/2019/2022/2025). . Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and decommission SQL Server instances. . Manage database creation, migration, refresh, cloning, and consolidation activities. . Configure and maintain SQL Server services, agents, linked servers, and replication components. . Ensure database standards, governance, and operational procedures are followed. High Availability & Disaster Recovery . Design, implement, and administer: o Always On Availability Groups o Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) . Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and runbooks. . Perform regular DR testing and validate recovery objectives (RTO/RPO). Performance Tuning & Optimization . Analyze and resolve complex database performance issues. . Monitor SQL Server workloads and identify bottlenecks. . Optimize: o Queries and stored procedures o Indexing strategies o Database design o Resource utilization . Conduct proactive capacity planning and forecasting. Backup & Recovery . Configure and monitor backup strategies. . Perform database restores and recovery operations. . Validate backup integrity through regular testing. . Ensure compliance with retention and recovery requirements. . Familiar with Networker Security & Compliance . Implement database security best practices. . Manage: o SQL Server logins and permissions o Role-based access controls o Encryption technologies (TDE, SSL/TLS) o Auditing and compliance requirements . Support security reviews, vulnerability remediation, and regulatory audits. Automation & Scripting . Develop automation solutions using: o PowerShell o T-SQL o SQL Server Agent o Azure/AWS fundamentals . Automate routine administrative and monitoring tasks. Monitoring & Incident Management . Provide L3 support for critical production incidents. . Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions. . Participate in on-call support rotations. . Monitor system health using enterprise monitoring tools. Cloud & Modern Data Platforms . Support SQL Server deployments in Azure and hybrid environments. . Manage: o Azure o AWS . Participate in cloud migration and modernization projects. Documentation & Leadership . Develop and maintain operational documentation, standards, and procedures. . Provide technical leadership and mentoring to L1/L2 DBA teams. . Collaborate with developers, architects, and infrastructure teams. . Participate in project planning and technical design reviews. Required Qualifications Education . Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. . Equivalent work experience may be considered. Experience . 7+ years of SQL Server DBA experience. . 3+ years supporting enterprise production environments. . Experience managing mission-critical databases with high availability requirements. Technical Skills . Microsoft SQL Server Administration . T-SQL Development and Performance Tuning . Always On Availability Groups . SQL Server Clustering . Backup and Recovery Solutions . PowerShell Scripting . Windows Server Admini

Key Responsibilities
1. To ensure on-time resolution & quality compliance of escalated tickets/incident as per the agreed SLA
2. To perform value addition activities (such as mentoring administrators/team members, preparing SOPs, maintaining effective documentation simultaneously and Knowledge sharing.) In addition act as a liaison to the business segment, facilitating effective communication and presentation to key business stakeholders as & when required.
3. To validate Change Order Implementation Plan & Human Error Compliance and participate in Capacity planning
4. To ensure positive customer feedback & satisfaction through active participation in customer meetings to understand any issues faced
5. To validate analyses (eg. Root Cause Analysis ,Trend Analysis) and reports to facilitate performance in tasks to be presented to key business stakeholders
