Position: Store Manager
Department: Café Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager / Management
Location: Grey Soul Coffee Roasters, Mumbai 400001

Job Summary

The Store Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations and performance of the café. The role involves leading the team, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining coffee, food and hygiene standards, managing inventory and costs, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring smooth and efficient café operations.

The ideal candidate should have 2–3 years of experience in café or restaurant operations, with a strong understanding of coffee, customer service, team management and store operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesStore Operations

Manage daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures.
Ensure the store is clean, fully prepared and operational before service.
Monitor POS operations, cash handling and daily sales.
Ensure smooth coordination between the bar, kitchen and service team.
Ensure all Company SOPs and operational standards are followed.

Team Management

Supervise, guide and coordinate the café team.
Manage attendance, grooming, discipline and staff performance.
Prepare and manage staff schedules and shifts.
Conduct daily team briefings and provide regular feedback.
Train employees on service, coffee, product knowledge and SOPs.
Maintain a professional, positive and disciplined work environment.

Customer Service & Sales

Deliver an excellent and consistent customer experience.
Handle customer complaints and resolve issues professionally.
Monitor service quality and customer satisfaction.
Drive sales through product recommendations and effective upselling.
Ensure staff have strong knowledge of the café's coffee, food and beverage offerings.

Coffee & Product Standards

Have good practical knowledge of coffee preparation and café beverages.
Understand espresso preparation, milk steaming, latte preparation and basic latte art.
Ensure consistency in coffee quality, presentation and service.
Conduct regular checks to maintain Grey Soul's quality standards.

Inventory & Procurement

Monitor daily stock levels and consumption.
Coordinate procurement and vendor deliveries.
Ensure proper storage and stock rotation using FIFO/FEFO practices.
Conduct regular inventory checks and report shortages or discrepancies.
Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely and quality supplies.

Cost & Loss Control

Monitor food, beverage and operational costs.
Control wastage, pilferage, damages and stock losses.
Identify operational inefficiencies and take corrective action.
Protect Company assets, equipment, inventory and resources.

Hygiene, Safety & Compliance

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.
Ensure proper grooming and personal hygiene of all staff.
Ensure equipment and work areas are cleaned and maintained properly.
Ensure compliance with Company policies, SOPs and applicable requirements.

Reporting & Documentation

Maintain daily sales and operational reports.
Monitor cash, inventory and consumption records.
Report wastage, damages, shortages and operational issues.
Share regular store performance updates with management.
Assist management during audits and inspections.

Additional Duties

Perform such other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Company in accordance with the Employee's designation and business requirements.

Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business Management or a related field preferred.
Coffee or barista training/certification will be an advantage.

Experience

2–3 years of relevant experience in café, restaurant or hospitality operations.
Experience as a Store Manager, Café Manager, Assistant Manager or similar role preferred.
Experience in a specialty coffee café will be an added advantage.

Working Conditions

9-hour shift.
6 working days per week.
Weekly off as per company roster.
Flexible to work weekends, holidays and rotational shifts.
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced café environment.
Work Location: In person – Fort, Mumbai
