E-Commerce & SEO Specialist

Department: Marketing & Digital Commerce

Reporting To: Director of Marketing

Location: Saha, India

Job Purpose:

Eisco is an aggressively expanding global manufacturer and distributor of scientific and educational laboratory equipment. We are seeking a high-ownership E-Commerce & SEO Specialist to take full accountability for the accuracy, catalog structure, search visibility, and commercial performance of our online product presence.

In this role, you will bridge structured product data management with compelling digital copywriting. You will manage catalog data hygiene end-to-end within our PIM backend, maintain storefront organization on Shopify, write search-optimized listing content, and leverage web analytics to maximize search traffic and conversion. A central focus of this position is translating detailed technical specifications into content that is both scientifically accurate and engaging for institutional and technical buyers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Hygiene & Storefront Operations

Catalog Data Hygiene & Accuracy: Systematically audit product listings against technical specification sheets to maintain accurate, high-quality data, proper taxonomy, and complete listing specifications.
PIM System Custodianship: Maintain and enrich catalog data within our Product Information Management (PIM) system as the single source of truth feeding all digital sales channels.
Shopify Catalog Management: Own day-to-day storefront organization, product collection architecture, catalog structure, and bulk listing updates on Shopify. (Note: Theme development, custom liquid code, and template modifications are handled by the web development team).

2. Copywriting, SEO & Secondary Channels

Content SEO & Copywriting: Translate technical product specifications into search-optimized, engaging listing copy, metadata, and product descriptions designed to convert traffic into buyers.
Marketplace Data Support: Maintain accurate product data and specifications across secondary marketplace channels (e.g., Amazon Seller Central) as an extension of PIM custodianship.

3. Performance & Cross-Functional Coordination

Cross-Functional Information & Asset Gathering: Proactively collaborate across Marketing, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Product Management teams to collect raw technical data, product images, manual documentation, and spec updates required to create complete listing collateral.
Performance Analytics & Optimization: Monitor, analyze, and report on catalog performance using GA4, Google Tag Manager (GTM), and Google Search Console to turn traffic data into prioritized listing enhancements.
Web Development Liaison: Identify listing friction points, platform functional needs, or site bugs, documenting clear operational specifications for the web development team to execute

Skills required:

Technical & Marketing Competencies:

Digital Copywriting & SEO Content: Proven capability to translate technical specs into clear, engaging, and search-optimized product content that resonates with technical buyers.
Digital Analytics Execution: Practical working knowledge of GA4, Google Tag Manager (GTM), and Google Search Console to evaluate user traffic trends, drop-offs, and search queries.
PIM & Catalog Data Management: Practical experience structuring, auditing, and maintaining complex product data within a PIM or structured catalog backend.
Shopify Operational Fluency: Hands-on experience with Shopify storefront administration, collection logic, and bulk catalog updates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to proactively extract technical specifications, imagery, and product assets from internal teams (Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing) and translate technical requirements for web developers

Experience Level

3 to 5+ Years Equivalent (Domain & Skill-First Evaluation): Eisco prioritizes catalog execution capability, analytical rigor, and data accuracy over raw tenure.
Professional Track Record: 3–5 years of progressive execution in e-commerce catalog management, digital copywriting, SEO content, or web data management.
Marketing & Content Foundation (Core Requirement): Degree in Marketing, Digital Communications, English, Journalism, Business Administration, Computer Applications (BCA/MCA), or a related field with demonstrated content and copywriting strength.
Scientific Literacy (Supporting Requirement): Comfortable reading and understanding basic scientific concepts—school-level (10+2) STEM exposure is sufficient. A full STEM degree is not required; the primary need is the capability to understand a product's function to represent it accurately and compellingly.
Execution Mindset: Strong attention to detail with proven experience maintaining data integrity across large SKU catalogs.
