Floor Manager at Sujay's Dental Care

The operational demands of contemporary outpatient healthcare require a deliberate alignment between specialized clinical care and active administrative oversight. Sujay's Dental Care, established in 2009 in Banashankari 3rd Stage, Bengaluru, operates as an advanced multi-specialty dental center. Over nearly two decades of clinical practice, the facility has scaled from a single-chair practice into a 10-chair multi-specialty center led by founder Dr. Sujay Gopal and a team of dental specialists. The clinic holds the distinction of being Karnataka's first National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) accredited dental clinic, establishing clinical hygiene, patient safety, continuous documentation, and evidence-based protocols as standard operating baselines.

The clinical portfolio at Sujay's Dental Care spans complex surgical implantology, single-day digital dentistry, laser-assisted periodontal therapies, microscopic endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. The physical layout features 10 active dental operatories served by a central waiting lounge designed for approximately 10 to 15 seated patients. This architectural footprint creates a distinct operational challenge: high patient turnover across 10 simultaneous operatories must be managed within a compact reception envelope without extending waiting times or causing clinical bottlenecks.

Without systematic floor coordination, multi-specialty handoffs, chair turnover sterilization, and unexpected walk-in emergencies can cause chair vacancy imbalances, extended waiting periods, and administrative friction. The position of Floor Manager provides real-time operational governance across the physical floor, orchestrating auxiliary clinical staff, synchronizing operatory turnover, enforcing NABH compliance, and protecting the patient experience.

Organizational Governance and Reporting Structure

The Floor Manager serves as the primary operational coordinator within the facility, bridging clinical management and daily administrative execution. Functioning immediately below the Clinical Director and Senior Practice Leadership, the Floor Manager exercises direct supervisory authority over non-clinical floor staff, chairside dental assistants, Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) technicians, front-office executives, and housekeeping personnel.

The organizational hierarchy positions the Floor Manager in direct alignment with executive leadership:

* Executive Leadership: Managing Director & Clinical Director (Dr. Sujay Gopal)

* Operational Command: Floor Manager – Clinical Operations & Quality Assurance

* Front Office Administration: Front Desk Executives, Patient Relationship Coordinators, Billing Staff

* Chairside Clinical Support: Senior and Junior Dental Assistants, Operatory Setup Aides

* Quality and Support Services: CSSD Sterilization Technicians, Biomedical Waste Handlers, Environmental Housekeeping Staff

By centralizing floor-level authority, the management model ensures that clinical specialists remain dedicated to diagnosis, surgical interventions, and patient care, while all logistical, inventory, regulatory, and patient-flow dependencies are handled by the Floor Manager.

Core Operational Responsibilities

Operatory Synchronization and Patient Flow Dynamics

The Floor Manager oversees patient throughput across the clinic's 10 operatories throughout the daily operating schedule, which runs Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Operating from the centralized Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and appointment scheduling systems, the Floor Manager tracks patient arrivals, consultation durations, procedure completions, and operatory vacancies in real time.
