Full job description

Sr. Software Developer – ColdFusion (Healthcare / Denial Management)

Location : Remote

Experience Required : 5+ Years

Employment Type : Consultant / Part-Time

Monthly Commitment : Approximately 10 hours per month

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Software Developer with strong expertise in Adobe ColdFusion and healthcare application development, specifically within Denial Management and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) systems.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing and maintaining enterprise healthcare applications that support claims processing, denial workflows, appeals management, payer integrations, and operational reporting.

This role requires strong backend development capabilities along with deep understanding of healthcare workflows, database management, API integrations, and application optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance healthcare web applications using Adobe ColdFusion (CFML)
Work on Denial Management and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) related modules and workflows
Develop scalable backend components supporting claims processing, denial tracking, appeals, and payer communication systems
Integrate healthcare-related APIs, third-party platforms, and payer systems
Optimize application performance, database queries, and legacy ColdFusion applications
Write secure, maintainable, and high-performance code following best practices
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in healthcare applications
Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, operations teams, and project stakeholders
Participate in technical discussions, requirement analysis, and solution design
Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers
Maintain technical documentation and implementation notes
Ensure compliance with healthcare security and data protection standards

Required Skills

5+ years of hands-on experience in Adobe ColdFusion / CFML development
Experience working on Healthcare IT applications, preferably Denial Management or Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) systems
Strong understanding of claims lifecycle, denial workflows, appeals processing, or payer integration processes
Strong expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX
Strong database experience with MSSQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
Experience writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and query optimization
Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs and web services integration
Familiarity with MVC architecture and framework-based development
Experience using Git or other version control systems
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
Knowledge of healthcare application security and compliance best practices
Good communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Skills

Experience working with healthcare claims, denials, EOBs, ERA/EDI transactions, or payer systems
Experience with Lucee Server
Exposure to AWS or Azure cloud platforms
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Experience with modern frontend frameworks is a plus

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
