Job Title: Project Planning Engineer – Refractory Application
Location: Pune (in office)
Department: Projects
Reports to: Project Manager
Role Overview:
The Project Planning Engineer will be responsible for preparing detailed project schedules, resource plans, and execution strategies for refractory application projects in our target industries. The role involves coordinating with site teams, clients, and internal departments to ensure smooth execution, timely completion, and cost-effective delivery.
*Key Responsibilities:
*1. Project Planning & Scheduling*
* Prepare detailed project schedules using ERP / Excel tools.
* Develop manpower, material, and equipment deployment plans.
* Break down scope of work into activities, allocate durations, and identify critical path.
* Monitor daily/weekly progress and update project schedules accordingly.
* Plan shutdown/relining activities with accurate sequencing to minimize downtime.
*2. Coordination & Resource Management
* Coordinate between procurement, stores, site execution, and project management teams.
* Track material requirements and ensure timely delivery.
* Prepare daily/weekly manpower allocation sheets in consultation with site supervisors.
* Highlight bottlenecks and suggest corrective actions to senior management.
*3. Reporting & Documentation*
* Prepare project dashboards, progress reports, and MIS for management review.
* Document site activities, consumption reports, and productivity analysis.
* Assist in preparing method statements, job procedures, and quality checklists.
* Maintain records of client communications, approvals, and site instructions.
*4. Cost & Performance Monitoring*
* Track project costs against budgets (manpower, material, and equipment).
* Monitor productivity KPIs
* Report variances in cost/time and recommend recovery measures.
*5. Safety & Quality Support*
* Assist in implementing safety procedures and ensuring work permits compliance.
* Support QA/QC engineers in inspections and documentation.
* Ensure planned curing, drying, and heat-up schedules are adhered to.
*Qualifications & Skills: *
*Education: *
* B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical / Ceramic / Metallurgy / Production Engineering.
*Experience: *
* 2–3 years of experience in project planning, preferably in refractory application, shutdown projects, or construction.
* Exposure to steel plants, cement plants, refineries, or boiler/furnace/kiln projects is desirable.
*Technical Skills: *
* Proficiency in MS Project / Primavera / Excel / ERP project modules.
* Knowledge of refractory materials and application techniques is added benefit
* Ability to read technical drawings and BOQs.
*Managerial & Soft Skills: *
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Good communication and coordination skills.
* Ability to work under pressure during shutdowns.
* Attention to detail with strong documentation ability.
*KPIs / Success Measures: *
* Accurate project schedules prepared and adhered to.
* Timely availability of resources (manpower, material, equipment).
* Minimal deviation from planned cost and time.
* Effective coordination leading to smooth site execution.
* Positive feedback from senior managers and clients.
