Toffyjar Digital is a B2B web development and digital agency working with mid-to-large enterprise clients. We build and maintain websites, and increasingly, we help clients grow through structured, data-driven SEO. This is a new function for us — you will be the person who builds it, owns it, and delivers results both for our clients and for Toffyjar itself.
What This Role Is Really About
SEO in 2025 is not meta tags and keyword stuffing. It is a discipline that requires analytical thinking, content judgment, technical depth, and strong communication. And it does not stop at Google anymore — AI-generated answers (GEO) and featured snippet optimisation (AEO) are where B2B visibility is increasingly won or lost. If you are looking for a checklist job, this is not it. If you want to own a function end-to-end and see real results — read on.
This role covers the full modern search spectrum — SEO, AEO, and GEO. From reading GSC and Ahrefs data and forming strategy, to optimising content for AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, to implementing changes in the CMS and reporting to clients. You will need both the thinking and the doing.
What You Will Do
Strategy & Analysis
- Analyse Google Search Console and Ahrefs data to identify opportunities, gaps, and issues
- Develop keyword strategies — research, clustering, search intent mapping, and prioritisation
- Conduct competitor analysis and identify content and backlink gaps
- Build content briefs and topic clusters aligned to business goals
- Monitor algorithm updates and assess impact on client and internal rankings
- Set measurable SEO goals and track progress against them month on month
AEO — Answer Engine Optimisation
- Identify featured snippet and People Also Ask opportunities and optimise content to capture them
- Structure content using clear Q&A formats, concise definitions, and scannable layouts for voice and snippet results
- Optimise FAQ schema, how-to schema, and speakable schema for voice search and assistant results
- Monitor featured snippet rankings and track gains and losses over time
GEO — Generative Engine Optimisation
- Research and implement strategies to improve visibility in AI-generated answers on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Bing Copilot
- Optimise content for E-E-A-T signals — expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness — to increase AI citation likelihood
- Build entity authority through structured data, authoritative sourcing, and consistent brand mentions across the web
- Track brand and client mentions in AI-generated search results and identify gaps
- Stay ahead of GEO developments — this is a fast-moving space and you will be expected to bring new thinking to the team
Technical SEO
- Audit websites for crawl issues, indexation problems, and site architecture gaps
- Identify and resolve Core Web Vitals issues in coordination with the development team
- Implement and validate schema markup — article, FAQ, organisation, breadcrumb, and more
- Manage redirect logic — 301s, canonical tags, hreflang, and URL structure
- Submit and maintain XML sitemaps, robots.txt, and GSC property configurations
- Monitor and resolve GSC manual actions, coverage errors, and crawl anomalies
On-Page & Content Execution
- Optimise page titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, and internal linking
- Upload and format SEO-optimised content into CMS (WordPress and others)
- Conduct image optimisation — compression, alt text, and file naming conventions
- Perform on-page audits from structured checklists and implement changes independently
- Build and maintain internal linking structures across client websites
Reporting & Client Communication
- Prepare and present monthly SEO reports — rankings, traffic, conversions, and insights
- Communicate results clearly to clients — explain what changed, why, and what comes next
- Manage client expectations around timelines and algorithm volatility
- Maintain dashboards in Google Looker Studio or equivalent for ongoing tracking
AI & Productivity
- Use AI tools — Claude, ChatGPT, Surfer SEO, or similar — to accelerate research and content workflows
- Stay current with SEO tooling, algorithm changes, and industry best practices
You Are a Great Fit If
- You have 2–3 years of SEO experience, ideally in a digital agency handling multiple clients
- You are fluent in Google Search Console — not just reading it, but knowing what the data is telling you
- You have hands-on experience with Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Moz for keyword research and site audits
- You understand technical SEO — crawl budget, indexation, Core Web Vitals, schema, and redirects
- You can build a keyword strategy from scratch — research, clustering, intent mapping, and prioritisation
- You understand AEO — you know how to identify and win featured snippets and PAA boxes
- You are aware of GEO and have either experimented with it or are actively learning — this is a forward-looking requirement, not an expectation of years of experience
- You have uploaded and formatted content in WordPress or another CMS
- You can write a clear, concise client report that explains results without jargon
- You follow algorithm updates and understand their practical implications — not just the headlines
- You use AI tools in your SEO workflow already or are actively learning to
- You work well remotely, manage your own time, and deliver without hand-holding
Nice to Have
- Experience with Google Looker Studio for building SEO dashboards and reports
- Familiarity with Google Analytics 4 — events, conversions, and traffic attribution
- Basic understanding of HTML and CSS — enough to implement on-page changes without developer help
- Experience with Screaming Frog or similar crawl tools for technical audits
- Hands-on experience tracking brand visibility in Perplexity, ChatGPT, or Gemini responses
- Knowledge of local SEO — Google Business Profile, local citations, and map pack optimisation
- Experience with link building outreach or digital PR for authority building
- Familiarity with B2B SEO — longer sales cycles, lower volume, higher intent keywords
