ABOUT THE SCHOOL
We are a newly established early years school in Bengaluru, committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating learning environment for children aged 1.5 to 6 years. Our school operates a dual curriculum framework — integrating the Karnataka State Board curriculum with the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework — to deliver a holistic, globally benchmarked early childhood education experience grounded in the cultural and developmental context of India.
We are seeking passionate, experienced, and qualified Lead Teachers to join our founding team and help shape the character, culture, and educational outcomes of our school from the ground up.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing an engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum for Playgroup and Kindergarten children within a dual-curriculum framework (Karnataka State Board and British EYFS). The Lead Teacher creates a safe, warm, and stimulating classroom environment; builds strong relationships with children, parents, and the school community; and takes full professional responsibility for the learning outcomes and wellbeing of children in their care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Planning & Delivery
- Design and implement integrated lesson plans aligned to both the Karnataka State Board curriculum and the British EYFS framework — ensuring age-appropriate, play-based, and child-led learning experiences for Playgroup and Kindergarten children.
- Plan and execute weekly and termly learning programs that cover all seven areas of the EYFS (Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design) alongside Karnataka State Board milestones.
- Incorporate a variety of teaching methodologies including Montessori-inspired activities, structured play, storytelling, music, movement, art, and outdoor learning to support holistic child development.
- Prepare daily and weekly lesson plans, activity sheets, and teaching resources — adapting plans to meet the individual learning needs, interests, and developmental stages of each child.
- Integrate Kannada and English as dual languages of instruction in alignment with state curriculum requirements and British EYFS communication goals.
Classroom Management & Learning Environment
- Create and maintain a safe, clean, well-organized, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and a love of learning.
- Establish and consistently apply age-appropriate classroom routines, boundaries, and behavior guidance strategies rooted in positive reinforcement.
- Set up and rotate learning corners (reading, art, sensory, numeracy, dramatic play) to support child-initiated exploration and structured learning simultaneously.
- Ensure all classroom materials, equipment, and outdoor play areas are safe, maintained, and compliant with child safety standards at all times.
Child Development & Assessment
- Observe, document, and assess each child's developmental progress across physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional domains — using both EYFS-aligned assessment tools (e.g., Learning Journals, Development Matters) and Karnataka Board assessment frameworks.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date individual child portfolios, observation records, and progress documentation for every child in the class.
- Identify children with additional learning needs, developmental delays, or special educational requirements — liaising with parents and the Head of School to ensure appropriate support is provided.
- Conduct structured parent-teacher meetings at the end of each assessment cycle — communicating each child's progress clearly, honestly, and constructively.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Build warm, trusting, and professional relationships with parents and caregivers — maintaining open, respectful, and regular communication about their child's learning, wellbeing, and development.
- Communicate daily updates, learning themes, and upcoming events through class communication channels (notice boards, parent apps, or written updates).
- Organize and lead parent engagement events including open days, curriculum workshops, and cultural celebrations in line with the school calendar.
Team Collaboration & Professional Responsibility
- Work closely with the Assistant Teacher to plan and co-deliver daily activities — providing clear direction, task allocation, and ongoing guidance to ensure seamless classroom operations.
- Participate actively in school team meetings, curriculum planning sessions, and professional development programs as required.
- Uphold the school's safeguarding policy, child protection procedures, and all applicable regulations under the Karnataka state education authority.
- Contribute to school events, assemblies, excursions, and community initiatives as part of the wider school team.
