About the Role
SOAI India Private Limited is looking for an experienced Import & Logistics Manager to independently manage the complete import and clearance function for CKD, SKD, and finished electronics goods entering India.
This role requires a candidate with strong practical experience in importing electronics products and components, including items such as batteries, screws, cables, PCBs, housings, plastic parts, accessories, and finished goods, with a clear understanding of how these are handled under Indian import regulations.
The candidate must be well-versed in customs processes, HS classification, documentation control, import cost calculation, electronics-related certifications, and current compliance requirements applicable to imported goods in India.
This is a high-responsibility role for someone who can work with accuracy, ownership, and strong follow-up across suppliers, CHAs, transporters, warehouses, and internal teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesImport Handling
- Manage end-to-end import operations for CKD, SKD, and finished electronics goods.
- Handle imports of components and finished products such as batteries, screws, cables, connectors, PCBs, housings, accessories, and assembled electronics products.
- Coordinate with overseas suppliers for commercial invoices, packing lists, shipping documents, labeling requirements, and pre-shipment compliance.
- Ensure correct handling of different import structures including component-level imports, semi-knocked down goods, and finished goods.
- Plan shipment mode through air, sea, or courier based on urgency, cost, and product type.
CKD / SKD Knowledge
- Apply strong practical knowledge of CKD and SKD import structures, including classification, duty impact, and documentation implications.
- Understand the difference between component imports and semi-assembled imports from a customs and compliance perspective.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure documentation, packing declarations, and shipment structure support correct import treatment.
- Identify and prevent errors in declaration that may lead to higher duty, clearance issues, or regulatory complications.
Customs Clearance & Documentation
- Coordinate complete customs clearance with CHAs from document review through out-of-charge.
- Verify all documents before filing, including commercial invoice, packing list, airway bill / bill of lading, certificate of origin, test reports, product declarations, BIS-related paperwork, and other required documents.
- Ensure correct HS code classification and duty working for all imported items.
- Handle customs queries, assessments, examinations, and document clarifications efficiently.
- Maintain zero tolerance for documentation gaps, incorrect declarations, or avoidable clearance delays.
Compliance & Regulatory Management
- Stay fully updated on all import-related compliance requirements applicable to electronics and components in India.
- Manage and coordinate applicable approvals and compliance areas such as:
- BIS
- WPC
- DGFT / IEC
- EPR / E-waste
- battery-related compliance wherever applicable
- labeling and product declaration requirements
- Track validity, renewal, and applicability of all registrations, approvals, and certifications before shipment planning.
- Ensure no shipment is moved without required compliance readiness.
Landed Cost & Duty Control
- Calculate landed cost shipment-wise, including freight, duty, insurance, clearance cost, and local transport.
- Work on cost optimization through correct planning, classification, shipment structuring, and vendor coordination.
- Monitor import-related cost leakages such as demurrage, detention, rework, shipment holds, and document corrections.
- Support management with accurate cost visibility for planning and pricing decisions.
Inbound Logistics & Warehouse Coordination
- Coordinate movement from port / airport / ICD to warehouse.
- Work closely with warehouse teams for inward planning, receipt confirmation, shortage / damage reporting, and material reconciliation.
- Align import schedules with inventory requirements and business demand.
- Ensure smooth handover of imported goods into domestic supply chain operations.
Vendor & Internal Coordination
- Manage freight forwarders, CHAs, transporters, and other logistics partners.
- Coordinate with internal finance, warehouse, sales, and product teams for import planning and documentation readiness.
- Maintain strong follow-up with overseas suppliers to prevent dispatch errors and missing paperwork.
- Share regular status updates on shipment movement, clearance stage, compliance status, and risks.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in import, customs clearance, and logistics operations in India.
- Must have practical experience handling CKD / SKD / finished goods imports.
- Must have prior experience in electronics, components, peripherals, electrical products, or similar import-driven categories.
- Experience in importing items such as batteries, screws, cables, electronic parts, accessories, and related goods will be strongly preferred.
- Must be comfortable independently handling shipment documentation, CHA coordination, and customs follow-up.

Important Note
This is a full-time, on-site role in Bengaluru. The role requires close coordination with warehouses, logistics partners, CHAs, and government-related processes. Candidates must be comfortable with physical presence and regular operational follow-up.
