Senior UK Accountant / Accounts Finalisation Specialist
India-Based | UK Accounting Business | Remote
We are launching a new UK accounting and bookkeeping business and are looking for an experienced UK Accountant based in India to join us from the beginning.
This is not a basic bookkeeping role. We are looking for someone who has strong hands-on experience working with UK accounting firms, UK SMEs, or UK-based clients, and who understands how accounting, tax, VAT, payroll, CIS, HMRC submissions, Companies House filing, and year-end accounts work in the UK.
We are building a modern, technology-driven accounting operation for UK SMEs, with a target to onboard 200+ UK businesses by the end of this year. The right person will play an important role in setting the standard for accuracy, compliance, review quality, and client account management from day one.
About the Business
We will provide accounting, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, compliance, and year-end account support for UK small businesses and limited companies.
Our clients will include:
- Transport and courier companies
- Restaurants and takeaways
- Offices and service businesses
- Retail and e-commerce businesses
- UK SMEs and limited companies
- Owner-managed businesses
We use our own in-house accounting system, designed to simplify accounting work, reduce manual errors, improve review speed, and make client account management more efficient.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior UK Accountant / Accounts Finalisation Specialist who can review accounting work, identify mistakes, check compliance, finalise accounts, and manage UK SME client accounts with confidence.
The ideal candidate will already have experience working on UK accounts and should be comfortable dealing with VAT returns, payroll, CIS, corporation tax support, bookkeeping review, year-end accounts, and HMRC-related compliance checks.
You should be able to work independently, spot errors, understand UK accounting rules, and take ownership of client accounts from bookkeeping review through to final checks and year-end finalisation.

- Prepare and review year-end accounts for UK SMEs and limited companies
- Support the preparation of corporation tax workings and CT600-related information
- Review accounts before final submission to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance
- Manage UK SME client accounts and maintain clear communication on missing information, queries, deadlines, and required actions
- Liaise with internal team members to improve bookkeeping quality and reduce repeated errors
- Help develop internal review checklists, accounting workflows, and quality-control processes
- Use our in-house accounting system and provide feedback to improve automation, accuracy, and efficiency
- Support the business as it scales towards managing 200+ UK clients

- Experience with payroll, PAYE, pensions, and RTI submissions
- Experience with CIS is strongly preferred, especially for construction, courier, contractor, or trade-related clients
- Ability to review accounts, identify errors, and explain corrections clearly
