Full job description

WE ARE HIRING – SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Department: Accounts & Finance

Location: Kasba, Kolkata

Reporting To: Accounts Head / Director

Salary: ₹18,000 per month during probation

After successful completion of:

3 months: ₹20,000 per month

9 months: ₹25,000 per month

Thereafter, salary revision will be as per annual performance appraisal and company policy.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage accounting operations, taxation, statutory compliance, payroll processing, financial reporting, and regulatory matters.

The ideal candidate should possess strong practical experience in Accounts, GST, TDS, Income Tax, ROC compliance, Payroll Management, and Statutory Compliance, and should be capable of independently handling accounting and compliance functions from initiation to assessment and final order.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing activities.
Maintain General Ledger and ensure proper accounting records.
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash flow transactions.
Analyze accounting data and provide financial information to management.
Taxation & Statutory Compliance

GST

Preparation and filing of GST returns.
GST reconciliation and compliance management.
Handling GST assessments, notices, and departmental communications.
Processing and follow-up of GST refund claims until final credit.

TDS

Deduction and deposit of TDS as per statutory requirements.
Filing of TDS returns.
Preparation and issuance of TDS certificates.
Handling TDS assessments and related compliance matters.

Income Tax:

Preparation and filing of Income Tax returns for Individuals and Corporate entities.
Handling online assessments and departmental notices.
Coordinating and responding to Income Tax queries until final assessment orders.

ROC & Corporate Compliance:

Preparation and filing of ROC-related documents and returns.
Maintenance of statutory records and corporate compliance documentation.
Coordination with consultants and authorities regarding ROC matters.

Payroll & Labour Compliance:

Preparation and processing of salary and wages.
Ensure statutory deductions and timely deposit of:

Ø EPF

Ø ESIC

Ø Professional Tax

Ø Labour Welfare and other applicable compliances

Maintain payroll records and statutory registers as per legal requirements.
Handle statutory inspections, assessments, and compliance-related matters.

Audit & Internal Control

Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
Provide necessary documents, schedules, and reconciliations during audits.
Ensure implementation of internal controls and compliance procedures.
Identify areas for process improvement and operational efficiency.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

Assist management in budgeting and forecasting activities.
Support financial planning and cost-control initiatives.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations as required.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of Financial Accounting and Bookkeeping
Practical knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, ROC, EPF, ESIC, and Professional Tax
Experience in handling statutory assessments and departmental correspondence
Knowledge of Payroll Processing and Labour Law Compliance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in MS Excel and Accounting Software (Tally preferred)
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Good communication and coordination skills

Educational Qualification

B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification
Additional qualification in Taxation, Finance, or Accounting will be an advantage

Experience Required

Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in Accounts, Taxation, Compliance, and Payroll Management.
Candidates having experience in Manufacturing, Export House, or Leather Industry will be preferred.
