Job Summary
Biometa Polypack is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Production & Technical Manager to oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations of compostable films and bags. The role involves production planning, process optimization, procurement, inventory management, quality control, product development, formulation management, and product costing. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in biodegradable and compostable materials, blown film extrusion, and flexible packaging manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Operations
* Plan and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
* Ensure timely execution of production orders and customer commitments.
* Monitor machine utilization, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
* Coordinate production activities to achieve delivery targets.
* Manage shop floor operations, manpower allocation, and shift planning.
* Prepare and maintain production reports, KPIs, and operational records.

Technical Process Management
* Optimize blown film extrusion processes and machine parameters.
* Troubleshoot processing issues related to film quality, sealing, thickness variation, and productivity.
* Improve production efficiency while reducing wastage and downtime.
* Conduct machine trials and process improvement initiatives.
* Coordinate with equipment suppliers and service providers for technical support.
* Implement best manufacturing practices and process controls.

Product Development & Formulation
* Develop and optimize formulations for compostable films and bags.
* Create and maintain recipes using PBAT, PLA, compostable fillers, additives, and masterbatches.
* Conduct product trials and validation for new customer requirements.
* Develop innovative and specialty compostable packaging solutions.
* Improve product performance while maintaining cost competitiveness.
* Maintain technical documentation of formulations, trials, and process parameters.

Procurement & Vendor Management
* Manage procurement of raw materials, additives, packaging materials, and consumables.
* Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for cost-effective sourcing.
* Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with vendors.
* Ensure timely availability of materials to support production requirements.
* Monitor supplier performance and quality standards.
* Maintain strong relationships with key raw material suppliers.

Inventory Management
* Monitor raw material, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory.
* Maintain accurate inventory records and stock reconciliation.
* Ensure optimum inventory levels to avoid shortages and overstocking.
* Track material consumption and inventory movements.
* Minimize inventory losses, wastage, and obsolete stock.
* Coordinate with stores and accounts for inventory accuracy.

Quality Assurance & Quality Control
* Establish and maintain quality control systems and procedures.
* Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
* Conduct and supervise testing of raw materials and finished products.
* Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Handle customer quality complaints and technical feedback.
* Ensure compliance with applicable standards, certifications, and customer requirements.

Product Costing & Commercial Analysis
* Prepare detailed product costing for all compostable films and bags.
* Calculate raw material consumption, conversion costs, packaging costs, and production costs for each product.
* Develop cost sheets for new product developments, customer enquiries, and customized product requirements.
* Analyze the impact of formulation changes, raw material pricing, and process modifications on product cost and profitability.
* Work closely with sales and management teams to determine target selling prices, margins, and commercial feasibility.
* Identify opportunities for cost reduction through formulation optimization, process improvements, wastage reduction, and alternative raw material sourcing.

Qualifications
* B.Tech / Diploma in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, CIPET, or related field.
* 4–10 years of experience in blown film extrusion, flexible packaging, biodegradable or compostable plastics manufacturing.
* Experience in production planning, quality control, formulation development, procurement, and inventory management.
