Full job description

We are looking for a Merchandiser who will be responsible for managing the product lifecycle from range planning and product development to production, inventory, allocation and sales performance.

The candidate should have a strong understanding of fashion, retail, customer preferences and commercial merchandising.

Key Responsibilities

1. Range & Product Planning

* Study previous sales, customer preferences and market trends to plan upcoming ranges.

* Assist in developing seasonal and monthly product plans.

* Prepare category-wise assortment and range plans.

* Analyse colour, size, style and price-point requirements.

* Identify gaps in the existing product range and suggest new products.

2. Product Development

* Coordinate with the Design team on new product development.

* Maintain product development trackers and timelines.

* Coordinate samples, corrections, approvals and finalisation.

* Ensure products are developed according to the planned range and target price.

* Follow up with sourcing and production teams for timely completion.

3. Production & Vendor Coordination

* Coordinate with production unit and vendors for order execution.

* Track production status and delivery timelines.

* Follow up on delays, quality issues and pending orders.

* Ensure the right quantity and specifications are received.

* Maintain regular vendor and production MIS.

4. Inventory Management

* Monitor stock levels across stores, warehouse and online channels.

* Track stock cover, ageing, sell-through and inventory turnover.

* Identify fast-moving and slow-moving products.

* Plan repeats and replenishment for high-performing styles.

* Recommend liquidation/markdown actions for ageing inventory.

5. Store Allocation & Replenishment

* Prepare store-wise allocation based on sales potential and customer profile.

* Ensure the right assortment reaches each store.

* Monitor store-level stock availability.

* Plan regular replenishment based on sales.

* Analyse inter-store transfer requirements.

6. Sales Analysis

* Prepare and analyse weekly/monthly sales reports.

* Track category, style, colour, size and store-wise performance.

* Analyse WTD, MTD and YTD sales.

* Track sell-through and contribution by category.

* Identify trends and provide actionable recommendations to the business team.

7. Commercial Merchandising

* Work with the business team on pricing and margin.

* Monitor planned vs. actual sales and inventory.

* Support OTB and inventory planning.

* Ensure merchandise decisions are aligned with business targets.

* Balance fashion, customer demand and commercial viability.
