Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Officer to manage the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, and other operational requirements. The candidate will be responsible for vendor management, purchase planning, cost negotiation, timely material availability, and maintaining purchase documentation to support smooth manufacturing operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

Procure raw materials, packing materials, consumables, and other items as per production requirements.
Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and suppliers.
Obtain quotations, compare prices, and negotiate the best commercial terms.
Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely procurement.
Follow up with vendors to ensure on-time delivery of materials.
Coordinate with Production, Stores, QA, QC, R&D, and Accounts departments for purchase requirements.
Monitor inventory levels and plan purchases to avoid stock shortages.
Verify purchase invoices, delivery challans, and supporting documents.
Maintain accurate purchase records, vendor files, and procurement reports.
Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, cost, and delivery.
Source alternate suppliers to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
Ensure all purchased materials meet the required quality specifications.
Handle local purchases and urgent procurement requirements.
Support cost-saving initiatives through effective sourcing and negotiation.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
Perform any other purchase-related duties assigned by the management.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
1-2 years of experience in Purchase or Procurement, preferably in a manufacturing company.
Good knowledge of procurement processes and vendor management.
Proficiency in MS Excel .
Strong negotiation, communication, and coordination skills.
