Role overview
The Health and Safety Manager at Spark tech MEP Ltd plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. The Health and Safety Manager oversees safety procedures, monitors safety performance, and ensures that the company and its workforce adhere to the highest standards of health and safety on-site and across all MEP projects. Key responsibilities
1. Health and Safety Policy and Strategy
Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Develop, implement, and update health and safety policies specific to MEP operations, ensuring compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and company requirements. Safety Strategy: Create and promote an overall safety strategy for Spark tech MEP Ltd that aligns with the company’s objectives and operational practices, with a strong focus on reducing accidents, risks, and ensuring employee well-being. Management of Safety Systems: Ensure the integration of safety management systems across all MEP projects and company operations, creating a culture of safety within the company.
2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification
Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments for MEP projects, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations, identifying potential hazards and risks to workers, the environment, and the public. Hazard Mitigation: Implement strategies to eliminate or mitigate identified risks through engineering controls, safe work procedures, protective equipment, and training. Workplace Inspections: Carry out regular safety inspections at MEP job sites to identify and address any unsafe practices, behaviours, or conditions before they lead to incidents.
3. Safety Training and Awareness
Employee Training: Ensure that all employees and subcontractors receive regular training on health and safety procedures, including handling hazardous materials, electrical safety, working at heights, confined space entry, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Toolbox Talks and Safety Meetings: Lead and conduct regular toolbox talks, safety briefings, and meetings to raise awareness of health and safety issues, providing guidance on risk management and best practices. Induction Training: Provide safety inductions for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors to ensure they are fully aware of the site’s specific hazards and safety protocols.
4. Incident Investigation and Reporting
Accident Investigation: Lead investigations into any accidents, near misses, or unsafe acts to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all accidents, incidents, and safety-related concerns. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to regulatory bodies as required. Implement Corrective Actions: Recommend corrective actions and safety improvements based on incident findings, ensuring that lessons are learned and safety procedures are refined accordingly.
5. Regulatory Compliance and Safety Audits
Ensure Compliance: Stay up to date with local, regional, and national safety laws, regulations, and standards (such as OSHA, HSE, and other relevant bodies), ensuring that all MEP projects comply with these legal and regulatory requirements. Safety Audits: Conduct regular internal audits of the health and safety management system to ensure compliance with all regulations. Identify areas of improvement and implement changes to align with industry best practices. Permits and Documentation: Ensure that required safety permits (e.g., hot work permits, confined space entry permits) are in place before work begins and that they are closely adhered to throughout the project.
6. Health and Safety Performance Monitoring
Safety Performance Monitoring: Monitor and track health and safety performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), including incident rates, safety training completion, and audit results. Reporting to Senior Management: Regularly report on the status of health and safety efforts to senior management, providing updates on safety performance, training, incidents, and improvements. Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to continuously improve safety standards, aiming to reduce incidents, improve safety culture, and enhance overall project safety performance.
7. Safety Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE Management: Oversee the supply and proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all MEP projects, ensuring that all workers have access to and use the necessary safety equipment for their tasks. Equipment Inspections: Ensure that all machinery, tools, and equipment are regularly inspected for safety and compliance with health and safety standards. Emergency Preparedness: Ensure that the site is equipped with necessary safety equipment like first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency evacuation plans.
8. Emergency Response and First Aid
Develop Emergency Plans: Develop and communicate emergency response plans, including evacuation routes, emergency contacts, and first-aid protocols specific to MEP worksites. First-Aid Training: Ensure that appropriate personnel are trained in first-aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures, particularly in high-risk areas of MEP operations. Emergency Drills: Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure that all workers are familiar with the emergency procedures and can react quickly in the event of an incident.
9. Collaboration and Communication
Collaboration with Project Teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that safety standards are integrated into the design and execution of MEP projects. Contractor Coordination: Ensure that all subcontractors comply with the company’s health and safety requirements and standards. This includes monitoring their safety performance and conducting safety inductions. Client and Stakeholder Communication: Communicate safety practices and concerns to clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and foster a culture of safety.
10. Sustainability and Environmental Considerations
Environmental Safety: Monitor and enforce environmental safety practices on MEP projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., waste management, noise control, and pollution prevention). Sustainability Practices: Promote sustainable and environmentally responsible practices in line with health and safety regulations, ensuring that MEP works contribute to the reduction of environmental impact.
Pay: ₹1,200,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
