About the Role
We are looking for a Data Engineering & Python Intern who is interested in working with real-world data, Python programming, APIs, databases, and data pipelines.
You will work closely with the AI & Quantitative Research team to collect, process, validate, organize, and prepare financial-market data for research and intelligent analytical systems.
This role is particularly suitable for students or freshers who want practical exposure to Python, data engineering, financial data, APIs, SQL, databases, and AI/ML data infrastructure.
Key ResponsibilitiesData Engineering
- Collect and organize financial-market data from reliable data sources.
- Build and maintain data pipelines using Python.
- Develop processes for collecting, transforming, storing, and validating data.
- Automate repetitive data-processing and data-management tasks.
- Handle historical and real-time datasets where applicable.
- Maintain structured and reliable datasets for research and analytics.
Financial Market Data
- Work with financial-market datasets such as:
- Equity market data
- Index data
- Derivatives data
- Options and futures data
- Trading volume and price data
- Volatility-related data
- Digital-asset/crypto-market data
- Understand different market-data formats and structures.
- Identify missing, incorrect, duplicated, or inconsistent data.
Python Development
- Develop data-processing scripts and automation tools using Python.
- Use libraries such as Pandas and NumPy for data manipulation and analysis.
- Write clean, reusable, and maintainable Python code.
- Develop utilities for data extraction, transformation, validation, and storage.
- Optimize data-processing workflows where required.
APIs & Data Collection
- Work with REST APIs and other data-access mechanisms.
- Integrate external data sources into internal systems.
- Handle API responses, authentication, pagination, errors, and rate limits.
- Develop reliable processes for scheduled data collection.
- Monitor data collection and identify failures or inconsistencies.
Databases & SQL
- Store and manage structured datasets in databases.
- Write SQL queries for data retrieval and transformation.
- Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Design basic database tables and relationships.
- Maintain data consistency and integrity.
AI/ML Data Preparation
- Prepare high-quality datasets for AI and Machine Learning models.
- Perform data cleaning, transformation, normalization, and feature preparation.
- Work with the AI & Quantitative Research team to provide research-ready datasets.
- Support the creation of datasets required for model training, testing, and backtesting.
Data Quality & Validation
- Develop checks to identify missing or abnormal data.
- Validate incoming market data against predefined rules.
- Maintain data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Investigate data-quality issues and resolve them systematically.
- Maintain proper documentation of datasets and data pipelines.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the AI & Quantitative Research Intern and other technical team members.
- Support quantitative research and AI/ML development through reliable data infrastructure.
- Participate in technical discussions and development activities.
- Document important data sources, processes, and technical workflows.
Required Skills
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Python.
- Understanding of Pandas and NumPy.
- Basic knowledge of SQL.
- Understanding of databases and structured data.
- Basic understanding of APIs and JSON.
- Knowledge of data cleaning and preprocessing.
- Good logical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with large datasets.
- Willingness to learn data engineering and financial-market technologies.
- Good attention to detail.
