Full job description

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Department: Finance & Accounts Location: Bangalore Reporting To: Finance Manager / Director / Managing Partner

Job Purpose:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, project billing, vendor payments, and compliance activities. The role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, supports budgeting and project costing, and maintains smooth coordination between finance, procurement, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounting & Bookkeeping

Supervise daily accounting entries including journal vouchers, expense booking, and ledgers.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts in Tally / other accounting software.
Ensure timely bank reconciliations and inter-branch / inter-project reconciliations.
Verify all financial documents, vouchers, and supporting records.

2. Project Accounting & Billing

Coordinate with project teams to raise client invoices as per work progress or milestone completion.
Verify project costs and allocate expenses accurately across sites.
Track and reconcile project-wise revenue, materials, and overheads.
Support management with project profitability reports.

3. Vendor & Payment Management

Verify vendor bills against purchase orders and GRNs (Goods Received Note)before processing payments.
Maintain vendor ledgers and payment schedules.
Ensure timely vendor payments and track advances issued to suppliers and subcontractors.
Reconcile vendor accounts periodically.

4. Receivables & Collections

Track outstanding client payments and coordinate follow-ups for timely collection.
Prepare aging reports and maintain a healthy cash flow cycle.
Support the finance manager in managing project cash flows.

5. Statutory Compliance

Handle GST, TDS, and other tax-related entries and filings in coordination with auditors.
Ensure timely payment of statutory dues.
Maintain records for audits, assessments, and compliance checks.

6. Reporting & MIS

Prepare monthly trial balance, profit & loss, and balance sheet.
Generate project-wise financial summaries for management review.
Support audit preparation and provide required documentation.
Analyze cost variances and recommend improvements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education: B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / CA (Inter).Experience: 4–8 years of experience in accounting, preferably in interior contracting, construction, or project-based organizations.
Software Proficiency: Tally Prime, MS Excel (Advanced), ERP.
Key Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and project costing.
Good understanding of GST, TDS, and statutory compliance.
Excellent analytical, reporting, and reconciliation skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Ability to coordinate across departments and manage deadlines.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Accuracy and timeliness of accounting entries and reports.
On-time client billing and vendor payment processing.
Compliance with statutory filings and audit readiness.
Efficient project cost control and reporting accuracy.
Maintenance of clean and reconciled ledgers.

Growth Path:
