Infection Control Nurse

Job Description:

Job Type: Full-time
Hospital: Meitra Hospital, Calicut
Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Joining: Immediate joiners preferred

Meitra Hospital is looking for an experienced Infection Control Nurse to support hospital-wide infection prevention and control practices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in infection surveillance, audits, staff training, and implementation of infection control protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and implement infection prevention and control practices across the hospital.
Conduct regular infection control rounds, audits, and surveillance activities.
Monitor healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and maintain relevant records and reports.
Ensure compliance with hospital infection control policies, protocols, and applicable standards.
Monitor hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, biomedical waste management, sterilization, disinfection, and environmental hygiene.
Assist in developing and implementing infection prevention and control guidelines and training programs.
Conduct awareness and training sessions for healthcare staff.
Identify infection control risks and coordinate with relevant departments for corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain accurate documentation and reports.
Support infection control committee activities and quality improvement initiatives.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing or relevant nursing qualification.
1–2 years of experience in Infection Control, Hospital Infection Control, Quality, or a similar healthcare role.
Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices and healthcare-associated infection surveillance.
Familiarity with hand hygiene, PPE, biomedical waste management, sterilization, and disinfection protocols.
Strong analytical, observation, and documentation skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to conduct audits, identify gaps, and coordinate corrective actions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
Infection Control certification is mandatory.
Experience with JCI, NABH, or other healthcare accreditation standards will be an added advantage.
