Position Overview:

Position will be responsible for strengthening the implementation of literacy and GEP-related work with SCERT (The State Council of Educational Research and Training), DIET (District Institutes of education and training) schools across the RtR implementation districts in Chhattisgarh. Will represent Room to Read India Trust across various platforms and ensure collaboration between the state and district on curriculum and content enhancement, teacher training & capacity building, and improved access to quality learning materials.

Responsibilities:

Program Understanding:

Serve as the primary coordination point between SCERT, Raipur and Room to Read India Trust, ensuring seamless communication, alignment of program goals, and timely execution of joint initiatives. Facilitate regular interactions, track progress against agreed plans, and support collaborative decision-making to strengthen implementation and impact.
Provide comprehensive support for all literacy-related academic initiatives, including training, content and material development, and review processes, as assigned by SCERT and Room to Read. Ensure quality, alignment with program objectives, and timely execution of all deliverables.
Provide programmatic and coordination support to the Gender Equality Portfolio (GEP) activities, ensuring alignment with SCERT priorities, effective implementation, and integration with ongoing academic initiatives. Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders and support the timely execution and monitoring of key interventions.
Ensure the timely execution and delivery of all tasks, assignments, and outputs assigned by SCERT, maintaining high standards of quality, accountability, and adherence to agreed timelines.
Ensure successful completion of all tasks assigned by Room to Read related to Literacy and Gender Equality Portfolio (GEP) programs, maintaining quality and alignment with program objectives.
Support the planning, documentation, reporting, and review processes for literacy and GEP initiatives to ensure effective program implementation.
Assist in the development of reports, presentations, concept notes, and other program-related documentation.
Facilitate coordination and communication with government officials, SCERT departments, and other key stakeholders as required.
Track program progress, timelines, and action points, and provide regular updates to Room to Read to support informed decision-making and timely course correction.

Training, Workshop and Meeting:

Contribute to the development of teaching-learning materials, training modules, and other technical resources as required.
Attend professional development trainings and workshops at block, district, state, and national levels, as required.
Participate in review meetings at block, district, and state levels—both within Room to Read and with government stakeholders—and ensure timely completion of all programmatic reports.
Engage in monthly review meetings with State Office, SCERT and other stakeholders to track progress and strengthen program implementation.

Planning, Reporting and Documentation:

Track and report program monitoring data, ensuring accuracy and timely sharing with relevant stakeholders.
Undertake continuous planning, documentation, and reporting to support effective program implementation.
Prepare and submit monthly reports to the supervisor, including progress data.
Document best practices and key learnings and share them with the State team to inform program improvement.
Report to the Literacy Program Officer/Associate and maintain regular communication on progress and challenges.
Provide support during donor visits and assist in additional activities required to achieve organisational objectives.
Compile and analyse data generated by state, district, and schools, in consultation with supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in education / social sciences or equivalent.
Minimum 2- 3 years of relevant experience in development projects, preferably in education.
Teaching experience at primary level preferred.
Strong knowledge about education in general and language and reading practices and approaches in particular.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
Critical thinking and analytical skills.
