Job Title: Instrumentation Technician

Department: Operations / Maintenance / Utilities

Reports To: Instrumentation Engineer / Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems used in the water treatment plant. The role ensures accurate monitoring and control of treatment processes, helping maintain water quality, plant efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Install, calibrate, test, and maintain field instruments and control devices.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on instrumentation systems.
Troubleshoot faults in transmitters, analyzers, sensors, control valves, and PLC-based control systems.
Calibrate instruments such as flow meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, pH analyzers, conductivity meters, turbidity meters, chlorine analyzers, and dissolved oxygen analyzers.
Inspect and maintain control panels, junction boxes, signal wiring, and communication networks.
Monitor instrument performance and ensure accurate process measurements.
Assist in commissioning new instrumentation and control systems.
Maintain calibration records, maintenance logs, and technical documentation.
Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.
Support PLC, SCADA, and automation systems during troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures and maintenance standards.
Maintain inventory of instrumentation spare parts and consumables.

Required Qualifications

Diploma or ITI in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, Electrical & Instrumentation, or a related field.
Knowledge of industrial instrumentation and process control systems.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrument datasheets.
Familiarity with calibration procedures and instrument testing equipment.

Preferred Experience

2–5 years of experience in water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, utility facilities, power plants, or process industries.
Experience with PLC, SCADA, DCS, and industrial communication systems.
Knowledge of water quality monitoring instruments and analyzers.
