Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Interface Manager to oversee our Kochi Metro Rail projects in the South Region, encompassing the states of Kerala.
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; out of which a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Telecommunication domain in Metro Railway project or similar transportation system environment and be exposed to Interface Management role.
The Telecom Interface Manager will be responsible for co-ordination, managing and delivering telecom-related projects for the Metro Railway system. This includes planning, coordination, documentation, implementing, and maintaining telecom systems, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Interface Identification & Management
- Identify all internal and external interfaces:
o Civil (stations, tunnels, depots)
o E&M systems (power, traction, ECS)
o Signaling, AFC, rolling stock
o External agencies (utility providers, authorities, telecom operators)
- Develop and maintain an Interface Register / Interface Matrix
- Define interface boundaries and responsibilities clearly between stakeholders
2. Coordination Between Multiple Stakeholders
- Act as the single point of coordination between:
o Telecom contractor
o Other system contractors (Signaling, SCADA, AFC)
o Civil contractors
o Client / PMC / General Consultant
- Conduct regular interface meetings and ensure closure of action points
- Facilitate design compatibility and integration
3. Design Interface Management
- Review and validate interface-related design documents, including:
o Cable routing, tray layouts, containment plans
o Equipment room layouts (TERs, CERs, SERs)
o Power and earthing requirements for telecom equipment
o Project specifications
o Interface requirements
o Standards and codes
4. Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Develop, review, and manage Interface Control Documents
- Ensure ICDs clearly define:
o Technical requirements
o Data exchange protocols
o Physical and logical connectivity
- Obtain approval from all stakeholders
5. Change Management (Interface Impact)
- Assess impact of design / scope changes on:
o Other systems
o Installation timelines
o Dependencies
- Coordinate design revisions and approvals
- Maintain version control of interface documents
6. Construction & Installation Coordination
- Ensure availability of fronts based on interface readiness
- Coordinate:
o Cable containment readiness
o Equipment room handover
o Power availability
- Resolve site-level clashes or conflicts
7. Testing & Commissioning Interfaces
- Plan and coordinate integrated testing across systems:
o Telecom with signaling interfaces
o SCADA integration
o Control room communication systems
- Ensure interface readiness for Testing & Commissioning (T&C)
- Validate end-to-end system integration
8. Risk & Issue Management
- Identify interface-related risks:
o Delayed inputs from other contractors
o Design mismatches
o Space constraints
- Maintain Interface Risk Register
- Drive timely resolution and escalation
9. Documentation & Reporting
o Interface registers
o Meeting minutes (MOMs)
o Action trackers
- Provide regular status reports to project leadership
- Track interface closure progress
10. Stakeholder & Authority Coordination
o Local authorities
o Utility agencies (power, telecom)
o Inspecting agencies
- Ensure compliance for external telecom link integration (OFC, radio, etc.)

- Support planning team in:
o Identifying critical interfaces
o Mitigating delays

12. Contractual & Commercial Interface Handling
- Interpret contractual interface clauses
- Support in:
o Claims related to interface delays
o Variation orders
- Ensure no scope gaps or overlaps

13. Quality & Compliance Assurance
- Ensure all interface activities comply with:
o Quality standards
o Project specifications
o Safety requirements
- Support audits and inspections
Qualifications and Skills:
? Education: Bachelors of Degree in Electronics & Communications, Telecommunication or Electrical Engineering
Experience & Skills:
? Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Project Management; out of which a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in Telecommunication domain in Metro Railway Projects or similar transportation network system and preferably having Interface Management role experience.
? Sound technical skills on Telecommunication systems for Metro Railway project or similar environment
? Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
? Proven ability to handle and lead a team effectively.
? Sound project management skills, including planning, execution, risk management, stakeholder management, claim & opportunity management.
? Willingness to travel as per project needs.
? Ability to work independently and take ownership of project deliverables.
? Adept at financial planning and project budget management.
? Demonstrated commitment to EHS practices.
