Factory Manager – Job Profile

Position

Factory Manager

Reporting To

Director / COO

Role Summary

The Factory Manager is responsible for overall plant operations including production, manpower management, quality control, maintenance, inventory, safety, dispatch, and operational efficiency. The role ensures smooth day-to-day functioning of the factory while achieving production targets, maintaining product quality, and controlling operational costs.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

Plan and supervise daily production activities.
Ensure production targets are achieved as per schedule.
Monitor plant efficiency, downtime, and productivity.
Coordinate with procurement and stores for raw material availability.
Ensure smooth functioning of machinery and utilities.

Quality Control

Ensure products meet defined quality standards.
Monitor raw material quality and production parameters.
Coordinate with QA/QC team for testing and compliance.
Implement corrective and preventive actions for quality issues.

Maintenance

Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained properly.
Minimize downtime through proper maintenance planning.

Inventory & Dispatch

Monitor stock levels of raw materials and finished goods.
Coordinate dispatch planning and logistics.
Ensure proper documentation and stock records.

Team Management

Supervise factory staff, operators, and supervisors.
Allocate manpower effectively across shifts.
Conduct training and monitor staff discipline and performance.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure workplace safety and hygiene standards.
Maintain compliance with statutory and factory regulations.
Ensure proper usage of PPE and safety procedures.

Reporting & Coordination

Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production reports.
Coordinate with management regarding production planning and issues.
Support cost optimization and process improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

Strong leadership and team management skills
Production planning and operational control
Knowledge of machinery and maintenance
Problem-solving and decision-making ability
Inventory and dispatch coordination
MS Excel and reporting skills

Preferred Qualification

Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Mechanical, Production, Agriculture, or related field.
5+ years experience in factory or manufacturing operations.

Preferred Industry Experience

Cattle Feed / Animal Feed
Agro Processing
FMCG
Manufacturing Industry

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Production target achievement
Plant efficiency and downtime control
Product quality compliance
Wastage reduction
Timely dispatch
Manpower productivity
Safety compliance and incident reduction
