Job Overview:
The Project Lead will be responsible for end-to-end ownership, execution, and scale-up of a high-impact, multi city-wide road safety education project reaching 350+ schools and thousands of students.
This role demands strong operational control, people leadership, strategic thinking, and execution excellence to manage complex, multi-layered field operations. The Project Lead will directly lead a large team of ~30 trainers, ensuring consistent delivery, strict quality adherence, and measurable behavior change outcomes across all intervention sites. The role requires extensive field engagement, rigorous monitoring, cross-functional coordination, and high accountability for results, making it critical to the success and scalability of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Strategy, Planning & Execution

Take complete ownership of planning, execution, and scale-up of project interventions across 350+ schools

Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual execution roadmaps, including micro-planning for school-level interventions

Design and optimize deployment strategies to ensure maximum coverage with efficient utilization of trainers

Ensure strict adherence to project timelines, deliverables, and quality benchmarks

Standardize training content, delivery methodologies, and engagement tools across all schools

Drive innovation in project design by introducing new engagement formats, behavioral nudges, and interactive learning methods

Anticipate operational risks and design contingency and mitigation plans
2. Large-Scale Field Operations Management

Lead and oversee day-to-day field operations across multiple zones within the city

Conduct frequent and structured field visits to audit project delivery and ensure quality control

Monitor execution of sessions, campaigns, rallies, and school engagements in real-time

Ensure availability and proper utilization of training materials, toolkits, and resources
-
Troubleshoot on-ground challenges such as school coordination issues, scheduling conflicts, and trainer deployment gaps

Maintain strong operational discipline and ensure zero compromise on delivery standards
3. Team Leadership, Supervision & Capacity Building

Directly manage and supervise a team of ~30 trainers, ensuring productivity, accountability, and morale

Develop clear KRAs, KPIs, and performance benchmarks for all team members

Conduct weekly reviews, field assessments, and structured performance evaluations

Lead Training of Trainers (ToT) and continuous learning initiatives to strengthen content delivery and facilitation skills

Identify skill gaps and implement targeted capacity-building plans

Build a second line of leadership by mentoring senior trainers and delegating responsibilities

Drive a culture of ownership, discipline, collaboration, and high performance
4. Data Systems, Monitoring & Impact Measurement

Establish and oversee robust data collection, validation, and reporting systems across all schools

Monitor real-time project data, coverage metrics, and trainer performance dashboards

Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness in reporting
-
Analyze data to generate actionable insights for improving project effectiveness

Track behavioral change indicators and impact metrics aligned with project goals

Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal reviews, donors, and stakeholders

Document case studies, impact stories, and best practices for knowledge sharing
5. Stakeholder Management & External Coordination

Lead engagement with school leadership, education departments, government bodies, and local authorities

Build and sustain strong relationships to ensure smooth project implementation and long-term partnerships

Coordinate with traffic police, municipal authorities, and community stakeholders for campaigns and events

Represent the organization in review meetings, stakeholder forums, and external engagements
-
Ensure high levels of stakeholder satisfaction and trust
6. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

Establish and implement quality assurance frameworks and audit mechanisms

Conduct random audits and observation visits to maintain consistency in delivery

Collect structured feedback from students, teachers, and trainers
-
Continuously refine project design based on field insights and feedback loops

Ensure that all interventions are impact-driven and aligned with project objectives
7. Financial Planning & Resource Management

Manage and monitor project budgets, cost allocations, and resource utilization
-
Track and approve field-level expenses including travel, logistics, and materials
-
Ensure cost efficiency without compromising on quality and impact
-
Support budget planning, forecasting, and financial reporting
-
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements
8. Documentation, Compliance & Reporting

Maintain comprehensive documentation of project activities, processes, and outputs

Ensure adherence to organizational, legal, and donor compliance requirements
-
Develop and manage standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all project components
-
Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and review documents for leadership
Profile Requisites:

Master’s degree in Social Work, Management, Education, or a related field.

8–9 years of experience in large-scale project or program management.

Proven experience in managing large field teams (15+ members) and multi-location operations.

Strong expertise in operations management, team leadership, and stakeholder engagement.

Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and crisis management abilities.

High proficiency in data analysis, MIS systems, and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, dashboards).

Ability to manage complex, fast-paced, and high-pressure environments.
-
Experience in school-based programs, behaviour change communication, or road safety initiatives will be an advantage.

Strong understanding of urban project implementation challenges and ability to scale programs while maintaining quality and consistency.

Experience in monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including impact measurement.
Remuneration: Subject to relevant qualification, experience & merit; the consultancy fees range is 60000 to 70000 per month.
