Quality Control (QC) Inspector at Plasma Spray Processors Pvt Ltd.
Job Description: Quality Control (QC) InspectorCompany Overview
Plasma Spray Processors Pvt Ltd is a premier leader in specialized thermal spray coatings, providing high-performance surface engineering solutions. We cater to the most stringent requirements of the aerospace, automotive, power generation, and heavy industrial sectors. We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Inspector to join our production and quality team to ensure our processes and finished coatings meet exact customer blueprints and international standards.
Role Overview
As a QC Inspector, you will be responsible for the day-to-day inspection of surface preparation, in-process plasma spraying parameters, and final coating characteristics. You will act as the gatekeeper of quality, verifying that all treated components meet microscopic, dimensional, and mechanical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. In-Process & Coating Inspection:
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming substrate components before processing.
- Monitor and verify surface preparation (e.g., grit blasting profile, cleanliness) prior to the plasma spray application.
- Conduct post-coating visual inspections for defects such as micro-cracks, peeling, overspray, and uneven thickness.
- Measure coating thickness using specialized non-destructive gauges (magnetic, eddy-current) and micrometers.
2. Metallurgical Laboratory Support:
- Assist in preparing metallographic samples (cutting, mounting, polishing) for laboratory analysis.
- Conduct microstructure evaluation, porosity analysis, and micro-hardness testing under the guidance of the QC Head.
- Perform bond strength / adhesion testing on sample coupons to validate spray run parameters.
3. Documentation & Traceability:
- Accurately record inspection results in daily logs, Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), and routing sheets.
- Log and isolate Non-Conforming Products (NCR); raise flags for re-work and track the corrective actions taken.
- Ensure full material and process traceability for batches, particularly for high-stakes aerospace or automotive components.
4. Equipment Calibration & Safety:
- Perform daily verification and routine calibration checks on inspection instruments (calipers, micrometers, roughness testers, gauges).
- Strictly adhere to plant safety regulations, including wearing correct PPE for thermal spray environments.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: ITI / Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Production Engineering.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience as a QC Inspector in a manufacturing, machine shop, or surface coating (Thermal Spray/HVOF/Plasma Spray/Galvanizing) facility.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding/coating symbols.
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, profile meters).
- Basic understanding of thermal spray materials (ceramics, carbides, alloys) is highly preferred.
- Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory): ASNT Level II in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) or Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT).
Key Competencies & Soft Skills
- Attention to Detail: An exceptional eye for identifying minor surface and microstructural anomalies.
- Integrity & Accountability: Uncompromising "quality-first" mindset with the confidence to reject parts that fail specifications.
- Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills to effectively report defects to the production team.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive attitude in identifying the root causes of coating failures.
Job Logistics
- Job Location: Taloja, Navi Mumbai / Coimbatore (or specify your specific plant location)
- Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Shift Work: Willingness to work in rotational shifts as required by production schedules.
Benefits Offered
- Competitive salary structure based on experience and skills.
- Provident Fund (PF) & ESIC/Health Insurance coverage.
- Paid time off and annual performance incentives.
- Opportunities to upskill in metallurgical lab testing and AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality management systems.
