Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Area Sales Manager with 7+ years of experience in sales and territory management.

The candidate will be responsible for achieving sales targets, expanding the distributor and retailer network, managing the sales team, developing new markets, and driving revenue growth within the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve area-wise sales targets.
Manage sales operations across the assigned territory.
Lead, guide, and monitor Field Sales Executives and Sales Representatives.
Set individual and team targets and regularly review performance.
Identify and appoint new distributors, dealers, retailers, and institutional customers.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with distributors and key customers.
Expand market coverage and improve product availability and visibility.
Conduct regular market visits and accompany sales team members for field activities.
Monitor sales performance, primary and secondary sales, and territory-wise growth.
Analyse competitor activities, pricing, promotions, and market trends.
Identify new business opportunities and develop new territories.
Ensure proper order booking, stock availability, and coordination with logistics and operations teams.
Monitor distributor stock levels and ensure effective inventory movement.
Support timely collection of outstanding payments and maintain healthy receivables.
Conduct distributor meetings, retailer meetings, and promotional activities.
Provide regular sales forecasts, market feedback, and performance reports to management.
Ensure effective implementation of company sales policies and processes.
Resolve distributor and customer issues promptly.
Participate in exhibitions, trade fairs, product launches, and promotional campaigns.
Develop long-term strategies for sustainable sales and market growth.

Team Management Responsibilities

Recruit, train, and develop sales team members when required.
Monitor daily field activities and productivity.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Coach team members on product knowledge, sales techniques, negotiation, and customer handling.
Ensure discipline, reporting compliance, and achievement of individual targets.
Motivate the team to consistently achieve and exceed sales objectives.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
Minimum 7+ years of experience in sales, preferably with 2–3 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
Experience in FMCG, hygiene, personal care, healthcare, or consumer products is preferred.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets and developing territories.
Strong knowledge of distributor, dealer, and retail sales channels.
Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
Good knowledge of the Tamil Nadu market.
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and CRM software.
Fluency in Tamil is mandatory; working knowledge of English is preferred.
Valid driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.
