About the Role
Metalex Steel Strips Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced Deputy Manager – Quality to manage the overall quality activities of the plant, including incoming inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection, customer specifications, quality documentation, laboratory activities, ISO systems and customer complaints.
The candidate should have hands-on experience in steel, aluminium, copper, metal processing, slitting, cutting, grinding, polishing or fabrication industries.
The role requires strong knowledge of quality control, inspection methods, customer requirements, quality documentation and ISO 9001:2015 systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day Quality Department activities and ensure effective quality control throughout production.
- Understand and implement customer specifications, drawings, quality requirements and SOPs.
- Carry out and monitor incoming material inspection, in-process inspection and final inspection.
- Ensure dimensional, visual and other required inspections are carried out as per applicable standards and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with Production to ensure quality is maintained during steel/metal cutting, slitting, grinding, polishing and fabrication processes.
- Ensure proper inspection of finished products before packing and dispatch.
- Review and approve inspection reports, test reports and quality certificates.
- Ensure proper product identification, traceability, batch/heat number records and inspection status.
- Maintain and control all quality-related documents and records.
- Handle customer complaints, quality issues, rejections and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Production and other departments for Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA and preventive actions.
- Monitor rejection, rework, customer complaints and internal quality performance.
- Conduct quality investigations and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate with customers regarding technical and quality-related requirements whenever required.
- Support customer inspections, third-party inspections and audits.
- Manage and maintain the Quality Laboratory, inspection equipment and testing records.
- Ensure proper calibration and verification of measuring and testing instruments.
- Maintain calibration records and ensure instruments are available and fit for use.
- Prepare and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.
- Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
- Participate in internal audits, external audits and customer audits.
- Prepare quality reports, MIS and monthly quality performance reports.
- Train operators and quality personnel on inspection procedures, customer requirements and quality standards.
- Ensure proper housekeeping, safety and discipline within the Quality Department.
- Work closely with Production, PPC, Stores, Maintenance, Sales and Dispatch to ensure consistent product quality.
- Support continuous improvement activities to reduce rejection, rework and customer complaints.

Candidate Profile
- B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical / Metallurgy preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant Quality experience.
- Experience in steel, aluminium, copper, metal processing or fabrication industries preferred.
- Strong knowledge of quality inspection and control procedures.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and quality documentation.
- Experience in handling customer complaints, rejections and quality issues.
- Experience in quality laboratory and measuring instruments preferred.
- Good knowledge of dimensional inspection and interpretation of drawings/specifications.
- Ability to coordinate with Production and other departments.
- Good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and manage Quality Inspectors / Quality Engineers.
- Immediate joiners or candidates who can join within 1 month are preferred.
- Candidates currently based in Bangalore are preferred.
