Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You have spent time in the world of custom design and analog circuits, whether through coursework, internships, or early projects, and you know enough to recognize when a simulation is behaving strangely or when a design flow is breaking in a way that matters. You are the kind of person who reads error logs carefully, asks clarifying questions, and does not stop until you understand what is actually happening under the hood.
Supporting customers energizes you. Walking someone through a tricky setup or helping them unlock a tool feature they did not know existed feels like a win. You are comfortable writing clear explanations, whether it is an email to a frustrated user or a how-to doc that s the next person three hours of trial and error.
Scripting does not intimidate you. You have written Python or TCL before, or you are ready to learn, because you see automation as a way to make repetitive problems go away. Working across teams, translating what a customer needs into something R&D can act on, feels like the interesting part of the job, not the bureaucratic part.
At Synopsys, you will work with customers using Custom Compiler and PrimeSim to design the chips that power everything from AI accelerators to automotive systems. The problems are real, the tools are complex, and what you help customers build actually ships.
-
Provide technical support to semiconductor companies using Custom Compiler and PrimeSim, troubleshooting design environment setup, circuit simulation issues, and flow integration problems
-
Work directly with customers to understand their design challenges, reproduce issues in-house, and guide them through solutions using best practices and advanced tool features
-
Collaborate with R&D and product teams to relay customer feedback, report bugs, and contribute to feature prioritization based on real-world usage patterns
-
Write technical documentation, application notes, and knowledge base articles that help users solve common problems without needing to open a support ticket
-
Develop and maintain Python and TCL scripts that automate repetitive support tasks, improve workflow efficiency, and help customers integrate tools into their existing design environments
-
Participate in team knowledge-sharing sessions, case reviews, and cross-functional projects that improve support quality and product usability
-
Enable faster adoption of Custom Compiler and PrimeSim across global customers, reducing time spent stuck on tool issues and accelerating their time to tapeout
-
Improve customer satisfaction by delivering clear, actionable solutions that help design teams meet aggressive project schedules at advanced nodes
-
Influence product roadmaps by channeling real customer pain points and feature requests directly to R&D and product management
-
Strengthen Synopsys' reputation as a trusted partner for custom design and circuit simulation, where support is not just reactive but deeply technical and solution-oriented
-
Build a knowledge base and automation toolkit that makes the entire support organization more efficient and responsive
-
Help grow the Applications Engineering team by sharing what you learn, mentoring peers, and contributing to a culture where technical depth and collaboration matter
-
B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, VLSI, or a related field
-
Understanding of analog/CMOS VLSI fundamentals, custom design flows, and circuit simulation through academic projects, internships, or early industry work
-
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly in writing and in conversation, whether you are drafting a support email or walking a customer through a debug session
-
Comfort working in Linux or UNIX environments, navigating file systems, running scripts, and using command-line tools
-
Exposure to Synopsys Custom Compiler and PrimeSim is a plus, as is familiarity with analog/mixed-signal design methodologies
Basic scripting experience in Python or TCL is a plus, or a demonstrated willingness to learn and- automation to solve recurring problems
-
You can take a vague customer complaint, ask the right follow-up questions, and turn it into a reproducible test case that R&D can actually work with
-
You stay calm when a customer is frustrated, and you know how to de-escalate by showing progress, even if the full solution takes time
-
You are comfortable saying "I don't know, but I'll find out" and then actually following through with an answer
-
You enjoy working across teams, whether it is coordinating with R&D on a bug fix or collaborating with a peer in a different time zone to close a tough case
-
You take ownership of your cases and do not consider something resolved until the customer confirms it is working on their end
You will join the Synopsys Applications Engineering team, a group dedicated to delivering high-value technical support for custom design and circuit simulation. The team works closely with R&D, product engineering, and marketing, and supports customers using Custom Compiler and PrimeSim, industry-leading platforms trusted by top chip design companies worldwide. You will collaborate with experts in analog/mixed-signal design, simulation, and design flows, and contribute to efforts that accelerate design productivity and enable high-quality implementation at advanced nodes.
