Job Title: Line Cook (Commis 1 / Commis 2 / Commis 3)

Job Type: Full-Time / 9 hour Shift-based

About Café Tawi Tadka

Café Tawi Tadka is a vibrant café dedicated to serving quality food, rich flavors, and exceptional hospitality. We take pride in maintaining high culinary standards, standard kitchen hygiene, and an engaging dining experience for all our guests.

We are currently looking for an energetic, experienced, and detail-oriented Line Cook to join our culinary team as Commis 1, Commis 2, or Commis 3 depending on experience.

Roles & Responsibilities1. Multi-Cuisine Food Preparation & Line Cooking

Prepare and execute dishes across Indian, Continental, and Regional cuisines, adhering strictly to Café Tawi Tadka's recipes and quality standards.
Execute daily prep tasks (mise en place), chopping, marinating, spice-blending, and assembling raw ingredients accurately.
Operate cooking equipment and manage orders efficiently during peak rush hours to ensure timely service.
Maintain strict portion control, taste consistency, authentic flavor profiles, and appealing presentation for every dish.

2. Kitchen Hygiene & Sanitation

Maintain strict standards of kitchen cleanliness, personal hygiene, and food safety protocols (FSSAI compliance).
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, workstations, utensils, and storage areas regularly throughout the shift.
Ensure proper waste disposal and maintain clean, organized workstation setups.

3. Inventory Management

Assist in daily stock counts, tracking inventory levels of raw ingredients, spices, dairy, sauces, and dry goods.
Monitor product freshness, practice FIFO (First-In, First-Out) stock rotation, and actively work to minimize food wastage.
Report low-stock items or impending shortages to the Kitchen Supervisor or Head Chef in a timely manner.

4. Order Packaging & Delivery Prep

Accurately assemble and pack takeaway and online delivery orders using appropriate packaging materials to prevent spills and maintain food temperature.
Verify order receipts against packed items to ensure 100% accuracy before handoff to delivery partners or guests.

5. Guest Interaction & Front-of-House Coordination

Interact politely and professionally with guests for open-kitchen concepts or direct dining inquiries when required.
Coordinate effectively with service staff to communicate ticket times, special dietary requests, and table priority.

6. Training & Mentorship

Assist senior chefs in onboarding and training junior kitchen staff, trainees, or kitchen helpers on recipes, portioning, multi-cuisine cooking techniques, and safety standards.
Foster a collaborative and positive work atmosphere inside the kitchen.

Experience & Qualification Requirements

We are recruiting across three experience levels. Candidates must meet the minimum relevant experience for the prospective role:

Commis 3: Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen/café.
Commis 2: Minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen/café.
Commis 1: Minimum 4 years of experience in a commercial kitchen/café.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Proven culinary flexibility and hands-on skill in Indian, Continental, and Regional culinary preparation.
Sound knowledge of food safety, FSSAI hygiene protocols, and basic to intermediate culinary techniques.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills for team coordination and potential guest interaction.
Punctual, reliable, and physical stamina to work standing for extended periods.
