JOB DESCRIPTION Sales Manager – FTL & PTL Logistics

About Longroad Logistics Private Limited

Longroad Logistics Private Limited is a growing logistics and transportation company focused on providing reliable and cost-effective Full Truck Load (FTL), Part Truck Load (PTL), and transportation solutions to businesses across India.

We are looking for an energetic, target-oriented and experienced Sales Manager who can develop new business, acquire B2B clients, build long-term customer relationships and achieve monthly and yearly revenue targets.

Job Summary

The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving business growth through new customer acquisition, lead generation, client meetings, quotation and rate negotiation, sales conversion and customer retention.

The candidate should have a strong understanding of the transportation/logistics industry and should be comfortable dealing with manufacturers, distributors, traders, e-commerce companies, SMEs and corporate clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. New Business Development

Identify and approach potential B2B customers requiring FTL/PTL transportation services.
Generate leads through field visits, cold calling, referrals, networking, online platforms and market research.
Develop new customer accounts and convert prospects into regular business.
Identify new routes, industries and market opportunities.

2. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management

Meet prospective customers and understand their transportation requirements.
Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients.
Regularly follow up with existing and potential customers.
Increase repeat business and customer retention.
Resolve customer queries and coordinate with the operations team for service-related issues.

3. FTL & PTL Sales

Generate business for FTL and PTL transportation services.
Understand customer requirements such as route, vehicle type, load type, weight, volume and delivery timeline.
Develop business on important trade lanes and routes.
Identify opportunities for regular/monthly transportation contracts.

4. Quotation & Negotiation

Prepare competitive freight quotations.
Coordinate with the operations/pricing team for vehicle availability and freight rates.
Negotiate rates and commercial terms with customers.
Ensure every business deal meets the company's profitability requirements.

5. Sales Target Achievement

Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales/revenue targets.
Maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
Track leads, quotations, conversions and lost business.
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly sales reports.
Take responsibility for individual and team sales performance.

6. Market & Competitor Analysis

Monitor competitor rates and market conditions.
Identify new customers, routes and industries.
Collect market information regarding freight rates and customer requirements.
Share market intelligence with management.

7. Coordination with Operations

Coordinate with operations for smooth execution of customer shipments.
Ensure commitments made to customers are operationally feasible.
Follow up on vehicle placement, pickup, transit and delivery.
Work with the operations team to maintain service quality.

8. Payment & Commercial Follow-up

Coordinate with accounts/finance for customer payment follow-up.
Monitor outstanding payments for assigned customers.
Ensure commercial commitments are properly documented and followed.

Required Skills

Strong B2B sales and business development skills.
Good knowledge of FTL/PTL transportation.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Strong customer relationship management.
Ability to generate leads independently.
Good knowledge of Excel, email and CRM/software.
Target-oriented and result-driven approach.
Strong follow-up and convincing ability.
Willingness to travel for client meetings and field sales.
Ability to work independently as well as manage a sales team.

Qualification

Graduate in any discipline.
MBA/PGDM in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or Logistics will be an advantage.
3–7 years of relevant logistics/transportation sales experience preferred.

Monthly sales/revenue achieved.
FTL/PTL load volume generated.
Number of qualified leads generated.
Quotation-to-order conversion ratio.
Repeat customer business.
Customer retention.
Gross margin/profitability.

Compensation

Salary: Competitive salary based on experience and market standards.
Incentives: Performance-based incentives linked to sales/revenue and business growth.
