Full job description

We are looking for a passionate, skilled, and reliable Chef/Cook to join our café team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality food and beverages, maintaining consistency in taste and presentation, ensuring kitchen cleanliness, and following food safety standards. The Chef/Cook will work closely with the café team to deliver an excellent dining experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook café menu items such as sandwiches, burgers, wraps, pasta, pizzas, salads, snacks, breakfast items, desserts, and other specialty dishes.
Prepare hot and cold beverages as required, including coffee, tea, shakes, and mocktails (if applicable).
Ensure all food is prepared according to standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, freshness, and consistency.
Monitor food preparation times to ensure timely service.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, pantry, cooking equipment, and storage areas.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
Monitor inventory of food supplies and communicate replenishment requirements to management.
Minimize food waste and ensure proper storage of raw materials and prepared items.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues.
Assist in developing new menu items and seasonal specials.
Work collaboratively with service staff to ensure smooth café operations.
Handle customer requests related to food preparation whenever required.
Maintain discipline, punctuality, and a positive attitude in the workplace.
Perform other kitchen-related duties assigned by the Café Manager or Owner.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; a diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or Hotel Management is preferred.
2–5 years of experience as a Chef or Cook in a café, restaurant, or hotel.
Experience in preparing continental, fast food, café-style, or multi-cuisine dishes is an advantage.

Required Skills

Excellent cooking and food preparation skills.
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Creativity in food presentation and menu development.
Ability to multitask while maintaining quality.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail and consistency in food preparation.

Working Hours

Full-time
Rotational shifts, weekends, and public holidays as per café operations.
