Position Summary
The Chief Specialist – Aircraft Maintenance Safety & Quality is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's aircraft maintenance safety and quality management systems. The role ensures compliance with all applicable aviation regulations, company policies, industry standards, and best practices while promoting a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement across all maintenance activities.
The position provides technical leadership in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, safety risk management, audits, investigations, and continuous monitoring of maintenance performance to ensure the highest standards of aircraft airworthiness, reliability, and operational safety.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Management
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Maintenance Safety Management System (SMS).
- Conduct safety risk assessments for maintenance operations and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
- Monitor maintenance safety performance indicators and analyze trends.
- Investigate maintenance-related safety occurrences, incidents, and hazards.
- Develop and monitor corrective and preventive actions arising from investigations.
- Promote a positive safety culture through awareness campaigns, training, and employee engagement.
- Ensure effective reporting and management of safety hazards and occurrences.
Quality Assurance
- Develop and maintain the Aircraft Maintenance Quality Management System (QMS).
- Plan, conduct, and oversee internal quality audits and surveillance activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable aviation authority regulations, maintenance organization approvals, manufacturer requirements, and company procedures.
- Monitor maintenance documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage non-conformance reporting and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions through follow-up reviews.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable national and international aviation regulations and standards.
- Maintain readiness for regulatory authority inspections and external audits.
- Liaise with aviation authorities, customers, OEMs, and external auditors on quality and safety matters.
- Monitor regulatory changes and recommend updates to company procedures and manuals.
Quality Control and Continuous Improvement
- Analyze maintenance performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
- Develop quality performance metrics and management reports.
- Support process optimization using industry best practices and risk-based approaches.
Documentation and Procedures
- Review, develop, and maintain maintenance quality manuals, procedures, and work instructions.
- Ensure controlled distribution and revision of maintenance documentation.
- Monitor compliance with document control requirements.
Training and Competency
- Support the development of quality and safety training programs for maintenance personnel.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring on quality assurance and safety requirements.
- Participate in competency assessments related to maintenance quality and safety.
Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in aircraft maintenance safety and quality.
- Coordinate cross-functional improvement initiatives.
- Represent the department during audits, regulatory inspections, and customer assessments.
- Foster collaboration between maintenance, engineering, quality, safety, and operations departments.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aviation Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant aviation quality or safety certifications are desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
- At least 5 years in aircraft maintenance quality assurance, safety management, or regulatory compliance.
- Experience within a Part-145 maintenance organization, airline maintenance organization, or MRO environment.
- Experience managing regulatory audits and quality investigations is preferred.
Knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance practices and airworthiness requirements.
- Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Knowledge of aviation regulatory frameworks (e.g., ICAO, EASA Part-145, FAA regulations, or applicable national aviation authority requirements).
- Familiarity with human factors, risk management, and occurrence investigation methodologies.
- Understanding of Continuing Airworthiness Management principles is desirable.

Working Conditions
- Office-based with regular visits to aircraft hangars, maintenance facilities, and operational areas.
- Occasional travel for audits, regulatory meetings, and inspections.
- Availability to support investigations or regulatory activities outside normal working hours when required.
Authority
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions for maintenance quality and safety issues.
- Suspend or recommend suspension of maintenance activities that present unacceptable safety or compliance risks.
- Escalate significant quality or safety concerns to senior management.
- Initiate audits, investigations, and compliance reviews as required.
Pay: ₹450,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per month
