Admission Counsellor

Experience: 2–3 Years

About the Role

We are looking for a results-driven and experienced Admission Counsellor who can take complete ownership of the student admission journey — from the initial enquiry to successful admission conversion.

The ideal candidate should have strong communication, counselling, sales and follow-up skills, with proven experience in converting education-related leads into enrolled students.

This is an end-to-end admissions role, where you will be responsible for managing leads, understanding student requirements, recommending suitable programs, handling objections, following up consistently and closing admissions.

Key Responsibilities1. Lead Management & Enquiry Handling

Handle incoming enquiries through phone calls, WhatsApp, website enquiries, social media and other lead sources.
Respond to new enquiries promptly and professionally.
Understand the student's educational background, career goals, interests and requirements.
Maintain accurate and updated lead information in the CRM / lead management system.
Categorize and prioritize leads based on their potential for conversion.

2. Student Counselling

Conduct professional counselling sessions with prospective students and parents.
Explain courses, certifications, eligibility, duration, curriculum, career opportunities and fee structures clearly.
Recommend the most suitable program based on the student's profile and career objectives.
Build trust and establish strong relationships with prospective students.
Provide accurate information and ensure students receive a professional counselling experience.

3. Follow-Up & Lead Nurturing

Take complete ownership of assigned leads from enquiry until conversion.
Conduct systematic follow-ups through calls, WhatsApp and other communication channels.
Maintain a structured follow-up pipeline and ensure no qualified lead is missed.
Re-engage inactive, undecided and previously lost leads.
Build long-term relationships with prospective students and maintain regular communication.

4. Sales & Admission Conversion

Convert qualified enquiries into confirmed admissions.
Identify student objections and provide appropriate solutions.
Handle objections related to fees, course value, eligibility, duration, career opportunities, competition and decision-making delays.
Clearly communicate the value proposition of the programs.
Negotiate professionally within approved company policies.
Drive the prospect towards a clear admission decision and successfully close the enrolment.

5. Admission Closure & Documentation

Guide students through the complete admission process.
Assist students with application forms, required documents, fee payment and enrolment formalities.
Verify that required admission information and documentation are complete.
Coordinate with internal teams for successful onboarding of newly enrolled students.
Ensure a smooth transition from sales/conversion to academic or operations teams.

6. Target & Performance Management

Achieve assigned monthly and quarterly admission/conversion targets.
Maintain strong lead-to-admission conversion ratios.
Track daily calls, follow-ups, appointments, counselling sessions and conversions.
Prepare regular reports on lead status, conversions, pending follow-ups and lost opportunities.
Continuously analyze performance and identify opportunities to improve conversion rates.

7. CRM & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of every enquiry and follow-up.
Update lead status, remarks, next follow-up dates and conversion stages in the CRM.
Ensure complete visibility of the admission pipeline.
Provide management with regular updates on lead quality, conversion challenges and admission performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

2–3 years of proven experience as an Admission Counsellor, Education Counsellor, Academic Counsellor, Inside Sales Executive or similar role.
Prior experience in the education, training, EdTech, higher education or professional certification sector is highly preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and counselling abilities.
Strong sales and lead-conversion skills.
Ability to confidently handle objections and close admissions.
Strong follow-up and relationship-management skills.
Comfortable communicating with students, parents and working professionals.
Good knowledge of CRM / lead management systems.
Proficiency in WhatsApp, MS Office / Google Workspace and basic CRM tools.
Target-oriented, self-motivated and highly disciplined.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple leads simultaneously.

Lead-to-contact ratio
Counselling / appointment rate
Follow-up efficiency
Lead-to-admission conversion rate
Monthly admission targets achieved
Revenue / fee collection generated
Lead response time
CRM data accuracy
Number of successful admissions closed

What We Expect

This is not a passive counselling position.

The selected candidate will be expected to take complete ownership of the admission funnel and actively drive prospects towards enrolment.
