Job Description:
Schneider Electric creates connected technologies that reshape industries, transform cities and enrich lives. Our 135,000+ employees thrive in more than 100 countries. From the simplest of switches to complex operational systems, our technology, software and services improve the way our customers manage and automate their operations. Help us deliver solutions that ensure Life Is On everywhere, for everyone and at every moment.
Great people make Schneider Electric a great company.
As a Senior User Experience Designer II, you create innovative, user-centric designs that enhance product usability and elevate user satisfaction. You conduct thorough user research, develop wireframes and prototypes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine and optimize designs. You lead usability testing efforts and incorporate user feedback to drive continuous improvement in design quality. Your mission is to enhance the overall user experience by crafting intuitive and enjoyable interfaces that align with user needs and business goals. Your work plays a critical role in driving product success by ensuring that designs are both effective and user-focused. You are a specialized contributor with advanced expertise in user experience design, concentrating on the technical aspects of interface creation and user research. You leverage your skills to tackle complex design challenges and develop innovative solutions. You apply moderate to advanced technical knowledge of UX design, delivering impactful results with direct influence on product outcomes. You independently make decisions about your work and priorities, often navigating ambiguous situations, with decisions guided by past experiences, established practices, and organizational procedures. You set your work priorities autonomously and provide guidance to other professionals when needed. Your work requires minimal supervision, and you actively seek guidance in challenging situations.
As part of the Schneider Electric design organization, every team member is responsible for representing and upholding these core competencies:
User-centered design. Apply the tools and methodologies the problem, timing, and context require. Be transparent and mentor colleagues across every stage of the design process.
Facilitation and co-design. Prepare and lead workshops to align teams and converge on a common product and service vision. Include others and motivate with curiosity, a constant interest to learn, and a default to doing.
Culture and advocacy. Be a representative of design and a user advocate within Schneider Electric. Promote our digital ecosystem, strengthen the brand, and form a unified experience.
Systems thinking. Expand and adjust perspectives to understand the problem space. Empathize with users and colleagues and appreciate a diversity of inputs. Find cohesion across areas of the business for our users.
Data driven. Know how to use and analyze qualitative and quantitative data in decision making. Design interactions that empower users with information and collect data as a natural part of the experience.
As part of specifically being a Senior User Experience Designer II, you will be responsible for these additional competencies:
AI-assisted design. Use generative AI tools fluently to explore concepts and scaffold prototypes, then refine AI-generated mockups and HTML/React output — resolving UX issues, aligning to the design system, and bringing them to enterprise-grade quality. Accelerate concept generation without substituting AI for user insight.
Requirements translation. Convert ambiguous requirements into low-fidelity wireframes, user flows, and journey maps that surface gaps and misalignments before development starts. Facilitate working sessions that move stakeholders from assumptions to documented, testable requirements.
Design execution. Own the full design workflow in Figma from rough concept to pixel-precise, developer-ready specs. Work within and contribute to the Quartz Design System, and maintain design artifacts as a living record across the product lifecycle.
Design documentation. Produce annotated documentation a development team can build from independently — interaction states, edge cases, error handling, and component behavior fully specified. Your files should be navigable by a developer who has never met you.
Concept testing and risk reduction. Establish a regular cadence of lightweight concept testing with real users to validate direction early and reduce the cost of course corrections downstream. Synthesize findings and communicate them clearly to stakeholders who may be new to incorporating user feedback.
Human-centered culture. Model what good design review, critique, and iteration look like. Help the team build user-centered habits pragmatically, without heavy process, and connect to the broader Schneider Electric UX community to bring best practices back to the team.
(External) English Qualifications:
We know skills and competencies show up in many different ways and can be based on your life experience. If you do not necessarily meet all the requirements that are listed, we still encourage you to apply for the position.
This job might be for you if:
You bring strong, well-rounded UX craft to enterprise software: solid interaction design and information architecture for complex workflows, fluent prototyping, and hands-on usability testing and user research that you turn into decisions. You design to a clear accessibility bar, work within and extend the design system, and collaborate comfortably with front-end engineers.
-
8+ years of UX/product design experience, with the majority in enterprise B2B software.
-
Experience as a solo or lead designer embedded in a cross-functional product team, shipping real product in agile teams — not just concepts.
-
Designs for complex, permission-heavy or role-based enterprise systems (building management, access control, facilities, industrial platforms, or equivalent complexity).
-
Expert-level Figma fluency: components, variants, auto layout, prototyping, Dev Mode, and FigJam — low-fidelity artifacts in minutes, developer-ready specs in hours.
-
Applies and extends established enterprise design systems in Figma.
-
Sufficient React understanding to collaborate effectively: component architecture, props, and state, and how design decisions create or eliminate engineering complexity — without writing production code.
-
Uses generative AI tools as a design accelerant and critically evaluates AI-generated UI for design-system and user-need fit.
-
Strong information architecture instincts for workflows involving multiple user roles, permission levels, and administrative hierarchies.
-
Writes clear, precise design documentation that stands on its own without a walkthrough meeting.
-
Portfolio with at least one case study from a complex enterprise domain or a design-immature environment.
-
Fluent written and spoken English.
-
Works fluently with React-based design systems (MUI, Ant Design, Radix, or similar) and understands how they intersect with design tooling.
-
Comfortable holding substantive feasibility conversations with front-end developers.
-
Experience adding design rigor to an AI-assisted development process without creating friction for the team.
-
Experience establishing design habits and practices in a design-immature team.
-
Familiarity with Dovetail, Maze, or similar research and testing tools.
