An exciting opportunity has arisen at Control Union, at Navi Mumbai, India for GENERAL MANAGER – TESTING SERVICES.
As the General Manager – Testing Services, you will provide strategic, commercial, and operational leadership for a network of five laboratories across India. The role carries full responsibility for driving revenue growth, profitability, market expansion, customer acquisition, and operational excellence across testing services related to Textiles, Dyes & Chemicals, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Food, Agriculture, Animal Feed, and allied sectors.
This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a strong business development mindset, deep industry relationships, and the ability to identify and capitalize on emerging market opportunities. You will work closely with clients, industry associations, regulatory bodies, accreditation agencies, and regional/global teams to strengthen market position and accelerate sustainable business growth.

Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Develop and execute the overall business strategy for the laboratory network to achieve ambitious revenue, profitability, and market share objectives.
- Drive sustainable growth through customer acquisition, market penetration, diversification of services, and strategic partnerships.
- Identify emerging trends, regulatory developments, and new testing requirements within textiles, dyes & chemicals, sustainability, consumer products, food, agriculture, and related industries.
- Lead the development and commercialization of new testing services and value-added solutions aligned with market demand.
- Build and strengthen the organization’s market position as a preferred testing and certification partner.
Business Development & Key Account Management
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with leading textile brands, apparel companies, retailers, exporters, dye and chemical manufacturers, specialty chemical companies, and industry associations.
- Proactively identify new business opportunities and convert them into profitable revenue streams.
- Establish and execute key account strategies to grow existing client relationships and maximize customer lifetime value.
- Lead commercial negotiations, strategic partnerships, and long-term service agreements with major clients.
- Work closely with sales and technical teams to achieve business targets and enhance customer experience.
P&L and Financial Management
- Own the overall P&L for the laboratory business.
- Drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and profitability improvement initiatives.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, demand planning, investment planning, and financial performance reviews.
- Monitor key financial and operational KPIs and implement corrective actions where required.
- Optimize resource utilization, laboratory capacity, and operational efficiency to maximize returns.
Laboratory Operations & Service Excellence
- Ensure efficient and compliant operations across all laboratories.
- Drive operational excellence, turnaround time improvement, productivity enhancement, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure laboratories consistently meet accreditation, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Implement best practices in laboratory management, digitalization, automation, and process optimization.
- Foster a culture of quality, continuous improvement, innovation, and customer focus.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to laboratory managers and functional leaders.
- Build high-performing teams with strong commercial, technical, and operational capabilities.
- Drive succession planning, talent development, and leadership capability building.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and performance-driven culture.
Stakeholder Management
- Engage effectively with clients, regulators, accreditation bodies, industry associations, and internal stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, technical committees, and customer meetings.
- Collaborate with regional and global leadership teams to align business strategy and growth initiatives.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and corporate requirements.
- Oversee the effective management of complaints, appeals, integrity cases, and compliance-related matters.
- Maintain strong governance frameworks and risk management practices across the laboratory network.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, Chemistry, Textile Technology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
- MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Management preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience within the Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC), laboratory testing, textiles, chemicals, or related industries.
- Minimum 5-10 years of leadership experience managing multi-site laboratory operations with direct P&L responsibility.
- Experience/ exposure to international TIC industry would be preferred.
- Demonstrated success in business development, market expansion, and key account management.
- Strong network across textile brands, apparel manufacturers, exporters, dye and chemical manufacturers, retailers, and related industry stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of laboratory accreditation requirements, including ISO/IEC 17025.
- Experience leading large, cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholder groups.
