Job Description – Area Sales Manager (Field Sales)
Location: Kolkata
Job Type: Full-Time
Department: Sales
Reporting To: Regional Sales Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Area Sales Manager to drive sales growth, manage channel partners, and expand market presence across the assigned territory in and around Kolkata. This is a field-based role requiring extensive travel, regular customer interactions, and strong relationship management skills.

Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development

Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned territory.
Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to increase market share.
Expand the distributor, dealer, and retailer network within the territory.
Conduct regular market visits to generate leads and convert prospects into customers.
Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and market trends.

Channel Management

Develop and maintain strong relationships with distributors, dealers, retailers, and key customers.
Ensure effective implementation of sales and promotional programs.
Resolve channel partner concerns and support business growth initiatives.
Monitor stock availability and coordinate with supply chain teams to avoid shortages.

Customer Relationship Management

Build long-term relationships with key accounts and institutional customers.
Conduct regular customer meetings and gather market feedback.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and timely issue resolution.

Territory Management

Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly field visits.
Track sales performance and prepare territory-wise sales reports.
Ensure coverage of all assigned markets and outlets.
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activities in CRM systems.

Team Coordination

Coordinate with marketing, operations, and finance teams to support business objectives.
Assist in training and guiding sales executives or sales representatives, where applicable.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
MBA in Sales/Marketing preferred.

Experience

4–8 years of experience in field sales, channel sales, or business development.
At least 2 years of experience in a team handling or area sales management role preferred.
Experience in FMCG, Consumer Durables, Building Materials, Electricals, Healthcare, Telecom, or related industries is advantageous.

Required Skills

Strong sales negotiation and closing abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven experience in distributor and channel management.
Ability to analyze sales data and prepare reports.
Strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM tools.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a field environment.

Achievement of sales targets.
New customer acquisition.
Distributor/dealer network expansion.
Market coverage and outlet productivity.
Collection efficiency and payment recovery.
Customer retention and satisfaction.

Additional Requirements

Willingness to travel extensively within Kolkata and nearby territories.
Valid driving license and own vehicle preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
