General Manager – India Operations

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced General Manager – India Operations to lead and manage our India operations. The role will be responsible for driving business growth, improving student recruitment and conversion, managing teams, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong people management, sales/commercial, operational, and execution skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the company's offices across India.
- Lead branch managers and teams across counselling, admissions, visa filing, marketing, and administration.
- Set and monitor monthly targets for enquiries, counselling, applications, offers, fee payments, visas, enrolments, and revenue.
- Monitor the complete student recruitment pipeline and improve conversion at every stage.
- Ensure timely follow-up and effective management of enquiries and active clients.
- Conduct regular team and performance meetings and ensure actions are completed.
- Improve employee motivation, productivity, discipline, teamwork, and accountability.
- Identify performance gaps and implement coaching and improvement plans.
- Ensure accurate and effective use of CRM systems, including maintaining records, tasks, notes, and deadlines.
- Establish clear processes, responsibilities, and turnaround times across departments.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of admission and visa-related work.
- Coordinate with India, New Zealand, and Australia offices.
- Work closely with the marketing team to improve lead quality and campaign performance.
- Handle operational complaints and escalate serious compliance or reputational issues when required.
- Prepare weekly and monthly management reports covering performance, risks, and key actions.
- Recommend improvements in staffing, training, incentives, systems, and operational processes.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Achieve agreed application, enrolment, revenue, and profitability targets.
- Improve enquiry-to-appointment and application-to-enrolment conversion.
- Ensure timely follow-up of new enquiries.
- Maintain strong CRM and reporting compliance.
- Ensure timely processing of admission and visa applications.
- Reduce delays, errors, unattended enquiries, and client complaints.
- Improve employee engagement, productivity, and accountability.
- Reduce the need for Managing Director involvement in routine operational matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Management, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years in a senior management or operations leadership role.
- Proven experience managing teams, performance targets, and business/operational outcomes.
- Experience managing multiple departments or branches is highly preferred.
- Experience in international education, immigration, training, financial services, or client-service industrieswill be an advantage.
- Practical experience using CRM systems, dashboards, KPIs, and management reports.
- Excellent written and spoken English.

We are looking for a business and operations leader, not only a senior education counsellor or branch manager. Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in managing teams, setting and enforcing targets, improving performance, implementing processes, and delivering measurable business results.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Review the existing team, systems, recruitment pipeline, workflows, and branch performance.
- Identify operational weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
- Establish clear responsibilities, targets, KPIs, reporting, and meeting structures.
- Improve enquiry follow-up and progress delayed applications.
- Identify and address performance and training gaps.
- Develop and begin implementing an operational and growth plan.
- Deliver measurable improvements in accountability, productivity, and student recruitment.
