# JOB DESCRIPTION – SERVICE ENGINEER

**Department:** Service / After Sales

**Position:** Service Engineer

**Location:** Indore & Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

**Industry:** Construction & Heavy Equipment

**Brands:** Doosan / Bobcat & CONMAT

**Reporting To:** Service Manager / Branch Manager

**Employment Type:** Full-Time

**Travel:** Extensive travel to customer/project sites as required

## 1. Job Purpose

To provide efficient technical and after-sales service support for **Doosan/Bobcat and CONMAT construction equipment**, ensuring maximum machine uptime, quick resolution of breakdowns, customer satisfaction, and growth of the dealership's service and spare-parts business.

The role will involve field service, machine installation and commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, warranty support, customer coordination, and service documentation.

## 2. Key Responsibilities

### A. Field Service & Troubleshooting

* Attend customer breakdown and service calls within the assigned territory.

* Diagnose and resolve **mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and engine-related problems**.

* Carry out inspection, repair, maintenance and machine health checks at customer sites.

* Minimize machine downtime through quick and effective troubleshooting.

* Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance as per OEM/service schedules.

* Identify recurring technical issues and recommend permanent corrective actions.

### B. Installation & Commissioning

* Carry out **installation, erection and commissioning** of new machines/equipment.

* Conduct pre-delivery inspection (PDI) and machine readiness checks.

* Ensure proper machine setup before handing over equipment to the customer.

* Conduct machine testing and performance checks after installation/repair.

* Provide basic operator training regarding machine operation, safety and maintenance.

### C. Customer Support

* Maintain professional relationships with customers, operators and site personnel.

* Understand customer complaints and provide timely technical solutions.

* Explain machine maintenance requirements and recommend best operating practices.

* Follow up with customers after service to ensure satisfactory resolution.

* Escalate critical technical issues to the Service Manager/OEM technical team.

### D. Warranty & Service Documentation

* Handle warranty-related service cases as per company/OEM procedures.

* Prepare accurate **job cards, service reports, inspection reports and warranty claims**.

* Record machine breakdown history, service activities and replaced components.

* Ensure timely submission and closure of service reports.

* Maintain proper records of machine serial numbers, service history and customer complaints.

### E. Spare Parts & After-Sales Business

* Identify defective/replacement parts during service visits.

* Prepare and recommend spare-parts requirements to customers.

* Coordinate with the Parts Department for availability and timely supply.

* Generate opportunities for **spare-parts sales, repair jobs, AMC/service contracts and preventive maintenance**.

* Support the dealership in achieving assigned service and parts revenue targets.

### F. Coordination & Reporting

* Coordinate with Sales, Parts, Workshop and Service teams.

* Plan daily field visits based on breakdowns, scheduled services and customer requirements.

* Submit daily/weekly service activity reports to the reporting manager.

* Maintain customer and machine databases.

* Monitor pending service calls and ensure timely closure.

* Report major technical issues and recurring failures with root-cause analysis.

### G. Safety & Compliance

* Follow all company, OEM and customer-site safety procedures.

* Use appropriate PPE and ensure safe working practices at customer sites.

* Ensure machines are serviced and repaired according to prescribed technical standards.

* Maintain good housekeeping and safe handling of tools, parts and equipment.

## 3. Required Technical Skills

* Strong knowledge of **construction/heavy equipment**.

* Good understanding of:

* Diesel engines

* Hydraulic systems

* Transmission systems

* Electrical systems

* Sensors and control systems

* Mechanical components

* Preventive maintenance

* Breakdown troubleshooting

* Ability to read basic hydraulic/electrical diagrams.

* Knowledge of diagnostic tools and service equipment.

* Basic knowledge of MS Office and service reporting systems.

Doosan/Bobcat's equipment portfolio includes loaders, compact track loaders, backhoe loaders, mini excavators, forklifts and other equipment, while CONMAT operates in construction equipment including batching plants, concrete mixers, pavers, pumps and self-loading mixers.

## 4. Educational Qualification

**Preferred:**

* Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in:

* Mechanical Engineering

* Automobile Engineering

* Electrical Engineering

* Relevant technical qualification

## 5. Experience

* **2–5 years** of relevant experience in construction equipment, heavy machinery, earthmoving equipment, concrete equipment or similar industry.

* Experience with **OEM/dealership service operations** will be preferred.

* Candidates with strong hands-on technical knowledge may also be considered.

## 6. Required Competencies

* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

* Willingness to travel extensively across Indore, Bhopal and surrounding territories

## 8. Preferred Candidate Profile

**Ideal candidate:** A technically strong and customer-focused Service Engineer having hands-on experience with construction/heavy equipment, capable of independently handling field breakdowns, machine commissioning, preventive maintenance and customer complaints.

**Preferred Industry Experience:**

Construction Equipment / Earthmoving Equipment / Concrete Machinery / Heavy Machinery / Mining Equipment / Material Handling Equipment / OEM Dealership.

**Location:** Indore & Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

**Salary:** As per experience and industry standards

**Joining:** Immediate / Short Notice Preferred

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
