Job Description (JD) – Kitchen Helper

Job Title: Kitchen Helper
Department: Kitchen Operations
Reports To: Head Chef / Kitchen Supervisor

Job Summary

A Kitchen Helper assists chefs and kitchen staff in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen. The role involves food preparation, cleaning, stocking supplies, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations.
Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen items.
Receive, store, and organize food supplies and inventory.
Dispose of kitchen waste and maintain cleanliness in garbage disposal areas.
Support chefs and cooks during food service operations.
Refill ingredients and kitchen supplies as required.
Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health regulations.
Ensure kitchen floors, storage areas, and refrigerators are clean and organized.
Perform other duties assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is an advantage.
Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Good physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies and equipment.
Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Working Conditions

Shift work, including weekends and holidays.
