We design, engineer, and manufacture customized, high-precision automated systems tailored to the unique manufacturing needs of our clients.

Required Skills

Good understanding of mechanical drawings and tolerances
Strong knowledge of machine assembly and fitting practices
Knowledge of pneumatic systems
Knowledge of bearings, shafts, couplings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and linear-motion systems
Ability to use precision measuring instruments
Knowledge of machining and fabrication processes
Basic understanding of PLC, sensors, motors, servo systems, and electrical control
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Team coordination and manpower-handling ability
Good reporting and documentation skills

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Machine Assembly

Assemble complete SPM and automation machines according to mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and bill of materials.
Assemble machine frames, structures, guards, conveyors, fixtures, slides, gantries, rotary systems, and indexing mechanisms.
Install mechanical components such as:
Linear guides and bearings
Ball screws and lead screws
Gearboxes and motors
Couplings and pulleys
Timing belts and chains
Pneumatic cylinders
Grippers and actuators
Sensors and mounting brackets
Jigs and fixtures
Ensure correct tightening, fitment, lubrication, and installation of all components.

2. Drawing and BOM Verification

Study and understand mechanical drawings before starting assembly.
Verify dimensions, hole locations, tolerances, component orientation, and assembly sequence.
Check received parts against the bill of materials.
Report missing, incorrect, damaged, or mismatched parts to the design, purchase, or production team.
Highlight drawing errors and suggest practical assembly improvements.

3. Alignment and Accuracy

Carry out accurate alignment of machine frames, guideways, shafts, conveyors, fixtures, motors, and moving assemblies.
Check squareness, parallelism, flatness, concentricity, runout, and level.
Use measuring instruments such as:
Vernier caliper
Micrometer
Dial indicator
Height gauge
Spirit level
Feeler gauge
Bore gauge
Torque wrench
Ensure smooth movement without vibration, jamming, excessive play, or abnormal noise.5. Machine Testing and Trial
Perform manual movement checks before power-on.

4. Troubleshooting

Diagnose mechanical problems such as:
Misalignment
Excessive vibration
Abnormal noise
Component jamming
Belt or chain slippage
Bearing failure
Loose fasteners
Pneumatic leakage
Improper fixture positioning
Inconsistent machine movement
Take corrective action and record the solution.
Work closely with mechanical design, electrical, PLC, servo, and vision engineers during troubleshooting.

5. Coordination With Other Departments

Coordinate with the mechanical design team for drawing clarification and modifications.
Coordinate with electrical engineers for sensor, motor, solenoid, limit switch, and cable-routing requirements.
Coordinate with PLC and programming engineers during machine sequence trials.
Coordinate with production, quality, purchase, stores, and project teams.
Support the manufacturing team in understanding critical dimensions and assembly requirements.

6. Machine Modification and Improvement

Carry out mechanical modifications based on trial observations, customer feedback, or design changes.
Modify brackets, guards, fixtures, supports, chutes, and machine mechanisms when required.
Suggest improvements for:
Easy assembly
Better machine access
Reduced cycle time
Improved reliability
Easier maintenance
Lower vibration
Better safety
Ensure that all modifications are updated in drawings and records.

7. Quality Control

Inspect the quality of assembled parts and machine mechanisms.
Ensure that all parts are installed according to approved drawings and specifications.
Verify that critical fasteners are tightened to the required torque.
Ensure proper finishing, deburring, cleaning, lubrication, and protection of components.

8. Safety Responsibilities

Follow all workshop and site safety procedures.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Ensure machine guards, covers, interlocks, emergency access, and safety components are properly installed.
Never operate the machine with unsafe temporary arrangements.
Identify mechanical hazards such as pinch points, sharp edges, falling parts, rotating parts, and uncontrolled movement.
Maintain safe working conditions during assembly and trial.

9. Documentation

Maintain daily assembly progress reports.
Prepare machine assembly checklists.
Record mechanical problems, modifications, and corrective actions.
Maintain site installation and commissioning reports.
Update pending-parts and issue lists.
Record changes made during machine trials.
Support preparation of maintenance manuals and spare-parts lists.

10. Project and Team Responsibility

Plan assembly activities according to the project schedule.
Allocate work to technicians, fitters, and helpers.
Monitor daily progress and report delays.
Ensure proper use of manpower, tools, and materials.
Guide junior assembly engineers and technicians.
Take responsibility for the mechanical completion of the machine.
Ensure the machine is ready for trial, customer inspection, dispatch, and commissioning on time.
Check interference, collision points, accessibility, and mechanical safety.
Support dry-cycle and automatic-cycle trials.
Test the machine with actual customer components.
Observe cycle time, repeatability, loading, unloading, clamping, handling, and process movement.
Identify and correct mechanical problems during trials.

Key Performance Indicators

The performance of the Mechanical Assembly Engineer may be evaluated based on:

Machine assembly completion as per schedule
Number of assembly errors and rework cases
Machine alignment and accuracy
Mechanical breakdowns during trials
Machine cycle-time achievement
Quality of workmanship
Number of pending mechanical issues
Site installation and commissioning time
Customer complaints related to mechanical assembly
Compliance with safety and quality standards
Proper documentation and reporting
