We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Licensing Manager to oversee the procurement, compliance, optimization, and renewal of software licenses across the organization. This role is critical in ensuring the cost‑effective use of software assets, maintaining adherence to vendor licensing agreements, and upholding internal IT governance standards.
The Senior License Manager will ensure full alignment with contractual entitlements, lead audit and compliance activities, and drive SAM (Software Asset Management) excellence across both on‑premises and cloud environments.
This role will collaborate closely with Procurement, IT, Finance, Legal, and Vendor Management teams to manage the complete lifecycle of Tier 1 and Tier 2 software publishers, including Microsoft, Oracle, VMware, Adobe, and others—while ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and optimization of software assets.
Key Responsibilities:
· Monitor and manage software license compliance across multiple vendors (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, Adobe, Citrix).
· Ensure alignment with contractual terms and internal usage policies.
· Coordinate internal audits and support vendor audits with accurate license data.
· Track license entitlements, deployments, and usage throughout the software lifecycle.
· Maintain up-to-date records in software asset management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow).
· Work with IT operations to identify underused or overutilized assets for optimization.
· Support license procurement and renewal processes in collaboration with procurement and legal teams.
· Interpret complex license agreements and advise on best practices for use.
· Liaise with vendors and resellers for quotes, renewals, true-ups, and support escalations.
· Prepare usage reports, license position summaries, and compliance dashboards.
· Recommend cost-saving opportunities by identifying redundant or unused licenses.
· Support internal chargeback processes for license usage reporting.
· Contribute to the refinement and automation of software license tracking processes.
· Assist in developing standard operating procedures and knowledge base documentation.
Knowledge
· Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills: Pivot Tables, Power Query, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, logic modeling, and advanced formulas.
· Proven ability to develop large-scale licensing models in both manual Excel-driven environments and SAM tool–enabled environments.
· Deep understanding of Microsoft, Oracle, VMware, Adobe, and other vendor licensing models.
· Knowledge of cloud licensing: M365, Azure, AWS consumption models.
· Understanding of virtualization technologies and their licensing impact (VMware, Hyper‑V).
· Strong analytical, reporting, and data validation skills.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
