Production Supervisor – Flexo Printing (Self-Adhesive Labels)

Production / Manufacturing

Reporting To

Production Manager / Plant Head

Experience Required

Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience as a Flexo Printing Operator in self-adhesive labels manufacturing.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Production Supervisor leading flexo printing operations.
Total industry experience: 15+ years preferred.

Location : Ahmedabad

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the complete Flexographic Printing operations for self-adhesive label production. The role involves planning daily production, managing machine operators and helpers, ensuring quality compliance, minimizing wastage, maximizing machine utilization, and achieving production targets while maintaining safety and efficiency standards.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in narrow-web flexographic printing, label converting processes, troubleshooting, manpower management, and production planning.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Management

Supervise day-to-day flexographic printing operations.
Ensure production targets are achieved as per the daily production plan.
Monitor machine utilization and overall equipment efficiency.
Coordinate with planning, quality, maintenance, and dispatch teams.
Ensure timely completion of jobs while meeting customer specifications.

Technical Supervision

Guide operators during machine setup, registration, color matching, and job changeovers.
Troubleshoot printing defects such as:
Color variation
Misregistration
Dot gain
Ink smudging
Missing print
Die-cutting issues
Adhesive-related defects
Optimize machine settings to improve productivity and quality.

Team Management

Lead and supervise operators, helpers, and support staff.
Allocate manpower based on production priorities.
Conduct on-the-job training for machine operators.
Monitor employee discipline, attendance, and performance.
Develop operator skills and cross-functional capabilities.

Quality Control

Ensure compliance with approved artwork, specifications, and quality standards.
Monitor in-process quality checks.
Reduce customer complaints through preventive actions.
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring issues.

Waste & Cost Control

Monitor material consumption and wastage.
Control wastage of:
Label stock
Inks
Adhesives
Plates
Cylinders
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce costs.

Maintenance Coordination

Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules.
Report machine breakdowns promptly.
Work closely with maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
Ensure machines are maintained in optimum condition.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain production reports and shift records.
Monitor production KPIs.
Prepare reports on:
Output achieved
Machine efficiency
Wastage
Downtime
Rejections
Ensure ERP/job card entries are completed accurately.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with plant safety standards.
Promote housekeeping and 5S practices.
Ensure safe handling of inks, chemicals, and printing materials.
