This role represents an exciting opportunity to join a specialist, internationally connected logistics services company — working remotely with access to a global network of freight forwarding professionals and industry expertise across multiple continents.

The Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Operations Specialist (Air & Ocean) to join our remote team. In this role, you will be the operational backbone supporting our clients' freight forwarding activities — coordinating air and ocean freight processes, handling queries, and ensuring seamless execution and communication across the supply chain.

You will work Monday to Friday within the Germany time zone (CET/CEST), bringing structure and reliability to an international operation.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate air and ocean freight operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution
Handle rate inquiries, bookings, and shipment tracking across air and ocean modes
Prepare and review shipping documentation including bills of lading, airway bills, packing lists, commercial invoices, and customs documentation
Liaise with airlines, carriers, freight agents, and customs brokers to resolve operational issues efficiently
Respond to client and partner queries related to cargo movement, transit updates, and service issues with professionalism and urgency
Support the quoting and RFQ process — reviewing incoming requests and coordinating responses in a timely manner
Monitor active shipments and proactively communicate updates to all relevant parties
Identify and escalate operational bottlenecks, contributing to continuous improvement of internal workflows
Maintain accurate records of all operations, correspondence, and documentation
Collaborate cross-functionally with client-facing and support teams to ensure a high-quality service experience

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential:

3–5 years of hands-on experience in freight forwarding operations, covering both air and ocean freight
Strong, demonstrable knowledge of air freight (IATA regulations, AWB, ULD) and ocean freight (FCL/LCL, B/L, Incoterms, HS codes)
Excellent command of the English language — both written and spoken — for professional communication in an international environment
Familiarity with freight forwarding software, TMS platforms, and/or digital logistics tools
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple active shipments simultaneously
High attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment within a defined schedule

Preferred:

Proficiency in the German language is a strong advantage — a significant portion of client and partner interactions involve German-speaking markets
Experience working with or within a freight forwarding network
Exposure to customs procedures across multiple jurisdictions
Experience in a remote or distributed team environment
