FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

JOB DETAILS

Position: Field Service Technician

Department: Service & Customer Support

Location: Coimbatore

Travel: Entire Tamil Nadu

Reporting To: Service Manager / Head – Customer Support

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience: Freshers – 5 Years

Qualification; ITI / Diploma – Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or related technical discipline

JOB SUMMARY

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and customer support for company products at customer locations. The role requires strong technical and problem-solving skills, customer-service orientation, safety awareness, and willingness to travel extensively. The technician will represent the company at customer sites and ensure timely service, equipment reliability, minimum downtime, and high customer satisfaction.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Installation & Commissioning: Install and commission products according to company standards; perform operational testing, safety checks, and customer demonstrations before final handover.
Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled maintenance, inspect equipment for potential failures, replace minor components/consumables, maintain service schedules, and recommend corrective actions.
Breakdown & Troubleshooting: Attend customer complaints promptly and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or electronic faults; repair/replace defective components and restore equipment with minimum downtime.
Customer Support: Respond professionally to customer queries, provide product-operation and basic maintenance training, explain best practices, and maintain strong customer relationships.
Service Documentation: Prepare service reports after every visit, record spare parts used, update ERP/CRM/service software, maintain installation records, and submit travel/expense reports on time.
Spare Parts & Tools: Maintain service tools and commonly required spare parts, coordinate with stores for availability, ensure proper use of company assets, and report defective tools/instruments.
Quality & Safety: Follow company SOPs, safety procedures, electrical/mechanical standards, PPE requirements, and maintain professional cleanliness at customer sites.
Travel & Field Support: Travel extensively across Tamil Nadu and neighboring states, stay at customer locations when required, respond to emergency service calls, and provide support beyond normal hours during critical breakdowns.
Continuous Improvement: Identify recurring technical issues, provide feedback for product/service improvements, continuously upgrade technical knowledge, and take ownership of assigned service regions.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, basic electronics, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, hand tools, measuring instruments, and technical drawings.

Equipment Maintenance: Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical/electrical/electronic equipment and perform installation, commissioning, servicing, and preventive maintenance independently.

Problem Solving: Strong diagnostic and analytical abilities with a practical approach to identifying root causes and resolving equipment failures quickly.

Customer Handling: Good communication, customer-service orientation, professional conduct, ability to explain technical information clearly, and capability to build positive customer relationships.

Documentation & Technology: Basic computer skills with the ability to use ERP/CRM systems, mobile service applications, digital reporting tools, MS Office, and online communication platforms.

Educational Qualification: ITI – Fitter/Electrician/Mechanic/Electronics or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Industrial maintenance/vocational certification is an advantage.

Experience: Freshers with strong technical aptitude may apply; 1–5 years of field service, maintenance, installation, or manufacturing experience is preferred.

Mobility & Work Style: Willingness to travel extensively, work independently, stay at customer locations, attend emergency calls, and work flexible hours when required.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
