Accounts / GST Executive

Location: Guwahati (GHY), Assam
Industry: Construction, Infrastructure & Material Supply
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Accounts & Finance
Experience: 2–5 Years
Salary: ₹20,000 – ₹35,000 per month (negotiable based on experience and capability)

About the Role

We are looking for a competent and detail-oriented Accounts/ GST Executive to manage day-to-day accounting, GST compliance, taxation-related activities, billing, receivables/payables and financial documentation for our Construction & Supply business.

The ideal candidate should have practical experience in GST, TDS, construction billing, purchase/sales accounting and reconciliation, preferably in a construction, infrastructure, contractor or trading/supply organization.

Key Responsibilities1. Accounting & Bookkeeping

Maintain day-to-day books of accounts and accounting records.
Record purchase, sales, expenses, receipts and payment transactions.
Maintain Cash Book, Bank Book, Purchase Register and Sales Register.
Prepare and maintain Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Perform regular bank reconciliation and ledger reconciliation.
Maintain vendor and customer ledgers.
Assist in monthly/quarterly closing of accounts.

2. GST & Tax Compliance

Prepare and file GST returns such as GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and other applicable returns.
Verify GST invoices and ensure correct HSN/SAC, GST rates and tax calculations.
Reconcile GSTR-2B with purchase books and identify mismatches.
Follow up with vendors regarding GST discrepancies.
Maintain proper GST documentation and records.
Handle GST-related notices, queries and correspondence in coordination with the consultant/CA.
Assist in GST audit and departmental requirements.

3. TDS & Other Compliance

Calculate and account for applicable TDS.
Prepare TDS workings and coordinate for timely filing of TDS returns.
Verify TDS deductions in contractor, professional, rent and other applicable payments.
Reconcile TDS with Form 26AS/AIS where required.
Assist the CA/tax consultant in income-tax and other statutory compliance.

4. Construction Billing & Project Accounts

Prepare and maintain RA Bills / Running Account Bills and other project-related billing documents.
Check work bills, measurement-related documents and supporting invoices.
Maintain project-wise income and expense records.
Track advances, deductions, retention money, security deposits and recoveries.
Maintain records of EMD, Security Deposit, Performance Guarantee and other tender-related financial documents.
Assist in preparing project-wise profitability and cost statements.

5. Supply & Purchase Accounting

Record material purchases and supplier invoices.
Verify purchase invoices against purchase orders/challans.
Maintain supplier-wise outstanding statements.
Track material supply bills and payments.
Coordinate with stores/purchase teams for invoice and documentation requirements.
Ensure proper accounting of transportation, freight and other supply-related expenses.

6. MIS & Reporting

Prepare monthly receivables and payables reports.
Prepare cash-flow and payment requirement statements.
Prepare GST/TDS reconciliation reports.
Provide accounting data and reports to management.
Maintain project-wise and firm-wise financial records.

Required Skills

Strong practical knowledge of GST and TDS.
Good knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
Experience with Tally Prime / Tally ERP is preferred.
Knowledge of MS Excel is essential.
Knowledge of e-Invoice and e-Way Bill systems.
Ability to perform GST reconciliation and bank reconciliation.
Good understanding of construction/project accounting.
Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
Ability to work independently and meet statutory deadlines.

Educational Qualification

Essential:

B.Com / M.Com / equivalent qualification.

Preferred:

Practical experience in GST & taxation.
CA/Tax Consultant office experience will be an advantage.
Candidates with experience in construction, infrastructure, government contracting, EPC or material supply firms will be preferred.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Candidates with 3–5 years of hands-on experience in GST, Tally, construction accounting and taxation will be given preference.

Accurate and timely project billing.
Proper maintenance of vendor/customer ledgers.
Reduction of outstanding reconciliation issues.
Proper documentation and audit readiness.

Preferred Candidate Profile

We are particularly looking for someone who has worked with a Contractor / Construction Company / Infrastructure Company / Government Contractor / Material Supply Firm and understands the practical accounting requirements of project-based businesses.

Knowledge of Government Tender-related accounting and documentation will be an added advantage.
