Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned and articulate Business Development Manager with 7-8 years of proven experience and deep expertise in tender and bid management. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator with outstanding presentation skills, capable of engaging C-level executives, government officials, and key decision-makers with confidence and authority. This role demands a strategic thinker who can drive business growth, manage the complete bid lifecycle, deliver compelling presentations to senior stakeholders, and lead cross-functional teams to secure high-value contracts. Superior verbal articulation, persuasive presentation abilities, and polished business communication are critical to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities - Business Development
· Identify and pursue high-value business opportunities across target markets, sectors, and geographies
· Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve revenue and growth targets
· Build and maintain strong relationships with senior decision-makers, C-level executives, and key stakeholders
· Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats
· Generate qualified leads through networking, industry events, partnerships, and strategic outreach
· Lead client meetings, executive presentations, and product demonstrations
· Negotiate complex commercial terms, pricing structures, and contractual agreements
· Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets and KPIs
· Forecast business pipelines and provide accurate revenue projections to senior management
· Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, and client interactions in CRM
· Collaborate with marketing, delivery, and technical teams to ensure client requirements are met
· Mentor junior business development team members and contribute to capability building
Key Responsibilities - Tenders & Bid Management
· Identify relevant tender opportunities through government portals (GeM, CPPP, eProcurement), industry publications, and client networks
· Review tender documents (RFPs, RFQs, EOIs, RFIs) and assess qualification criteria, scope, and commercial feasibility
· Manage the complete bid lifecycle from opportunity identification to submission and contract award
· Prepare and submit high-quality bid responses, technical proposals, and commercial offers within deadlines
· Coordinate with internal stakeholders (technical, finance, legal, delivery teams) to gather required information for bid responses
· Ensure compliance with all tender requirements including pre-qualification, technical specifications, and documentation
· Manage EMD (Earnest Money Deposit), bid bonds, performance guarantees, and other tender-related financial instruments
· Maintain a tender tracker and bid pipeline with regular status updates and win/loss analysis
· Conduct post-bid analysis and prepare reports on tender outcomes for management review
· Attend pre-bid meetings, tender openings, and negotiations with prospective clients
· Build relationships with consultants, channel partners, and OEMs for joint bidding opportunities
· Stay updated on tender regulations, GFR (General Financial Rules), and public procurement policies
· Maintain a repository of standard bid templates, case studies, certifications, and corporate documents
Key Responsibilities - Presentation & Communication
· Deliver high-impact presentations to C-level executives, government officials, and senior stakeholders
· Develop and deliver compelling pitch presentations, sales decks, and capability showcases tailored to client needs
· Represent the organization at pre-bid meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and networking forums
· Articulate complex technical and commercial solutions in a clear, persuasive, and audience-appropriate manner
· Conduct executive-level client meetings, negotiations, and contract discussions with confidence and authority
· Lead bid defense presentations and oral evaluation sessions for tender submissions
· Craft persuasive written communications including emails, proposals, executive summaries, and business correspondence
· Prepare and present business reviews, sales forecasts, and strategic updates to senior management
· Build and maintain a strong professional executive presence both online (LinkedIn, webinars) and offline
· Handle objections, address concerns, and respond to client queries with poise and professionalism
· Conduct product demonstrations and solution walkthroughs for prospective clients
· Mentor team members on presentation techniques, storytelling, and effective communication
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred)
· 7-8 years of progressive experience in business development with at least 4 years of hands-on tender and bid management experience
· Exceptional fluency in English with outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills
· Proven ability to deliver high-impact presentations to C-level executives, government officials, and large audiences
· Strong executive presence with confidence in handling senior stakeholder interactions
· Excellent storytelling and articulation skills to translate complex ideas into clear, persuasive narratives
· Proven track record of winning high-value tenders and securing major business contracts
· In-depth knowledge of government tender processes, e-procurement portals (GeM, CPPP, NIC), and public procurement guidelines
· Extensive experience with RFP/RFQ/EOI response preparation and bid documentation
· Strong commercial and financial acumen including pricing strategy, costing, and margin analysis
· Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint for creating professional, visually compelling presentations
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills)
· Hands-on experience with CRM systems and bid management tools
· Excellent negotiation, persuasion, and stakeholder management skills
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-stakes bids and deadlines simultaneously
· Strong attention to detail and quality orientation
· Established professional network within target industries or government sectors
Preferred Qualifications
· MBA in Marketing, Sales, or Business Management
· Industry-specific experience (IT/ITES, Consulting, Engineering, Infrastructure, etc.)
· Experience with international tenders and global bid processes
· Certifications in bid management (APMP) or project management (PMP)
· Training or certifications in public speaking, executive presentation, or business communication
· Experience speaking at industry conferences, panels, or webinars
· Working knowledge of legal and contractual terms in bid documents
· Experience with consortium bidding and joint ventures
· Established network within target industries or government sectors
· Knowledge of GST, taxation, and statutory compliance related to tenders
