JOB DESCRIPTION: F&B CAPTAIN – FOOD & BEVERAGE

Location: Andheri East, Airport Road Metro Station, Mumbai – 400059
Salary: ₹22,000 – ₹24,000 + Service Charge + Tips + Incentives

Job Summary

The F&B Captain is responsible for supervising day-to-day food and beverage service operations and ensuring an excellent dining experience for guests. The role involves leading the service team, coordinating with the kitchen, maintaining service standards, handling guest requirements, and ensuring smooth and efficient outlet operations.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily F&B service operations within the assigned outlet.
Lead, guide, and allocate duties to Stewards, Servers, and other F&B team members.
Ensure excellent guest service and maintain high standards of hospitality at all times.
Greet guests, assist with seating, and ensure their requirements are attended to promptly.
Take and coordinate food and beverage orders accurately.
Ensure proper table setup, mise-en-place, cutlery, crockery, glassware, and service equipment.
Coordinate closely with the Kitchen and Bar teams for timely and accurate order execution.
Monitor food and beverage presentation, quality, portioning, and service standards.
Handle guest queries, requests, and complaints professionally and ensure timely resolution.
Ensure the outlet is clean, organized, well-stocked, and ready for service.
Conduct pre-shift briefings and communicate daily promotions, menu changes, VIP requirements, and operational updates.
Monitor staff grooming, hygiene, attendance, punctuality, and discipline.
Assist the F&B Supervisor/Manager in training and coaching junior team members.
Ensure compliance with hotel SOPs, FSSAI food-safety standards, hygiene requirements, and service procedures.
Monitor guest feedback and communicate important observations to the F&B management.
Assist in billing, POS operations, cash handling, and settlement procedures when required.
Monitor inventory and report shortages, breakages, or equipment issues to the concerned supervisor.
Ensure proper handling and care of hotel equipment, crockery, cutlery, glassware, and other service items.
Support banquet, events, IRD, and other F&B operations as required by management.
Maintain proper communication between the service team, kitchen, stewarding, and management.
Ensure smooth closing procedures, including clearing, cleaning, stock checking, and handover.
Promote upselling of food, beverages, specials, and promotional offers to maximize revenue.
Maintain professional grooming, communication, and hospitality standards.
Perform any other duties assigned by the F&B Manager or management.

Educational Qualification & Experience

Minimum 12th pass; Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management or Hospitality preferred.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Food & Beverage service.
Previous experience as an F&B Captain / Senior Steward / Senior Server in a hotel, restaurant, lounge, or hospitality establishment will be preferred.
Candidates with strong knowledge of restaurant operations and guest handling will be considered.

Working Conditions

Willingness to work in rotational shifts.
Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and during peak business hours.
Must maintain high standards of grooming, hygiene, and professional conduct.
Ability to stand and work for extended periods.

Compensation

₹22,000 – ₹24,000 per month + Service Charge + Tips + Incentives
