Mechanical Design Engineer

Engineer - L1

Bangalore

Job Purpose (Significance of the Role & Objectives)

As a Battery Pack Design Engineer, you will be responsible for solving complex challenges across structural, electrical, and thermal domains. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and developing battery components and assemblies for production, testing, and proof-of-concept (POC) applications. You will drive innovation and safety in the development of high-voltage (HV) battery systems and play a key role in shaping product direction. Additionally, you will lead the design and execution of battery testing to evaluate new materials and design concepts, ensuring Pravaig remains at the forefront of battery technology.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

Own the structural, electrical, and thermal design aspects of HV battery systems.
Develop advanced lithium-ion energy storage solutions for next-generation products.
Participate in all stages of the product lifecycle—from concept, design, and development to validation and long-term support.
Prepare and present designs for reviews, releasing complete 3D models and technical drawings with detailed part specifications.
Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to battery module and pack design, including material selection and characterization.
Lead the end-to-end development of specific battery pack components, from concept to production readiness.
Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment to integrate mechanical systems with high-voltage electrical components.
Conduct engineering analyses to assess the impact of design decisions on battery performance, safety, and reliability.

Desired Qualifications: Required Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles.
Proven experience in battery design and development; proficiency in 3D CAD tools is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with teams, leadership, and suppliers.
Adaptability and composure in fast-paced, evolving project environments.
Expertise in designing for various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion (plastic/aluminum), stamping, die casting, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
Proficiency in DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA, and DFA practices.
Sound understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Familiarity with materials used in battery packaging and electric vehicle components.
Strong commitment to delivering results, coupled with creativity and critical thinking.
