Position Summary:
The Head of People & Culture is a member of the senior leadership team and is
responsible for developing and implementing a people strategy that enables Humara
Bachpan Trust to attract, retain, develop, and inspire exceptional talent.
The role will build a values-driven, high-performing, inclusive, and accountable
organizational culture while ensuring excellent human resource systems, leadership
development, employee wellbeing, safeguarding, and succession planning.
This leader will help position Humara Bachpan Trust as one of India's most respected
nonprofit employers.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic People Leadership
Develop and implement the organization's People Strategy aligned with the five-year
strategic plan.
Advise the Executive Director and Board on workforce planning.
Lead organizational development and change management initiatives.
Build future leadership capacity across the organization.
Culture & Values
Champion the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Build a culture of trust, collaboration, accountability, innovation, and learning.
Lead employee engagement and culture-building initiatives.
Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging throughout the organization.
Talent Acquisition
Design recruitment strategies to attract outstanding professionals.
Build relationships with universities, leadership networks, and nonprofit talent pools.
Strengthen employer branding.
Ensure fair, transparent, and competency-based recruitment processes.
Leadership Development
Create leadership development programmes for managers and emerging leaders.
Coach senior managers on people management.
Design succession planning for critical leadership positions.
Establish mentoring and coaching programmes.
Learning & Capacity Building
Develop an annual learning and development strategy.
Build technical, behavioural, and leadership competencies.
Introduce individual development plans.
Evaluate the impact of training initiatives.
Performance Management
Develop a high-performance culture through effective goal setting and performance
reviews.
Introduce competency-based performance frameworks.
Support managers in addressing performance challenges.
Recognize and reward high-performing employees.
Employee Experience & Wellbeing
Create initiatives that improve employee satisfaction and retention.
Promote staff wellbeing and work-life balance.
Strengthen employee communication and engagement.
Oversee grievance handling and conflict resolution.
HR Operations & Compliance
Ensure robust HR systems, policies, and documentation.
Oversee payroll coordination and benefits administration.
Ensure compliance with labour laws and statutory obligations.
Maintain safeguarding, child protection, and whistleblower mechanisms.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Foster an inclusive workplace where all employees are respected and valued.
Monitor gender balance and representation.
Build disability-inclusive employment practices.
Promote equal opportunity in recruitment and career progression.
Board & Governance Support
Present workforce reports and strategic HR updates to the Executive Director and
Board.
Support governance committees on people-related matters.
Contribute to organizational policies and institutional strengthening.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development,
Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, or a related field.
8-10 years of progressive HR and organizational development experience.
At least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Experience in the nonprofit, development, CSR, social enterprise, or mission-driven
sector is highly desirable.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
